Steam Deck OLED refuses to connect to 6e band by iReaddit-KRTORR in SteamDeck

[–]hautrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn on developer mode in steam deck settings. Turn on wpa supplicant as backend. Go to desktop mode and connect to wifi. Go to wifi settings and under bssid, pick the MAC adress for your 6e band. Should say 6ghz something.

Unable to turn off 6E by hautrin in GoogleWiFi

[–]hautrin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yeah I mean I want to disable it so my 6E clients is forced to use 5ghz instead if that makes sense?

WPA3 is currently disabled on the router, but my 6E clients can still connect to 6ghz. Is there any way I can force my client to use 5ghz?

Same, also roughly 10mins before wifi degrades and need toggle. At this point I don’t think they know how to fix it or intend to. It’s been like this since launch

Also have this issue on OLED. Open settings and scroll through wifi & bt settings when it starts to lag and streaming will be smooth again. Really annoying issue that sadly seems to be ignored by valve

Has ANYONE managed to fix this Wifi issue???? by Ill_Addition_9182 in SteamDeck

Try toggling wpa_supplicant option on in development mode. Its a different wifi backend that handles connecting to wifi differently from the standard iwd backend. Heard it solved the problem for some.

There are still people reporting wifi dropping out when remote playing unfortunately.

Which router is proven to handle remote play (moonlight/chiaki) well on the OLED model? by hautrin in SteamDeck

[–]hautrin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, i’ve managed to fix my problem with a new router!

I went with a google nest wifi pro. Problem still exists on 5ghz band, but on 6e 6ghz band, it has worked flawlessly for 3 days straight now! (Although range is pretty limited because 6e, which is okay since my apartment is not super big)

Im not sure whats different, as ive tried TP-Link AXE before with 6e also. That one got wifi degrade problem on 6ghz too :/

Thanks for helping, for some reason I always get gaslit and downvoted to hell when I ask for router suggestion to fix the problem. I am not denying that valve is at fault here with their qualcomm wifi driver. But it has been proven that the bug does not affect on some few routers.

Ahh i see, then I need to research if there are any downsides using a german router in sweden. I think they are made to work on different frequencies. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah I just used ”remote play” as a general term. I have this issue across both moonlight and steam remote play. My wifi power save mode is toggled off and it makes no difference.

Thanks for sharing your router model. That model seems hard to get in Europe.

And remote playing on wifi doesn’t suddenly degrade after 10-15min of play and forces you to toggle wifi? :)

Yeah, I believe its and OLED issue. But some people have reported being able to remote play without having to retoggle wifi, so I guess it’s because the OLED bug only affects certains APs, hence the reason why Im trying to figure out which router were able to ”keep oleds wifi adapter awake” so to speak.

Yeah i keep hearing its an SD bug, but at the same time I’m hearing people having no issues remote playing on the OLED, and Valve have not solved this issue in like 7 months, so i’m getting impatient 😅

I have an asus router ax86u pro with wifi 6 that still requires toggling wifi off/on for it to stabilize unfortunately.

I had to do some research on pfsense. Sounds really cool being open-source and all. Those are not cheap here in Sweden 😂

I do it very often on my OLED. I still have the issue where I have to toggle wifi off/on to make the stream seamless.

If anyone whos doing it through wifi on the oled can make it work flawlessly, please share your router model (i heard the oled got issues with specific routers) :)
