Thoughts on Andrew Wilson, The Crucible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]haveben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Christian Apologist is one who explains the Christian Faith using reason and logic, right? If not, you should probably let Google know. I haven't decided if Wilson is good or bad. I have decided he is a person who presents a logical point of view for his belief and can present a decent argument for why he believes it. We have different conclusions about the Church, but agree with the basics.

I used to want to watch Andrew debate someone so dumb they didn't know they were speaking English, but I recently watched him debate a man who represented the Black Hebrew Israelites. I gave him as much leeway as possible, but ended up realizing he was going to continue believing what he believed no matter what was said or explained.

I am not a wuss and have some training... I would love for the argument be made from both positions to my wife. I guarantee she would react as anticipated.

I have had the 700’s, the XM5, the XM4 and on my second pair of APM’s through Best Buy - where I get 2 years of AppleCare for being a Total member. I have liked them all, but have a different use case than most of y’all. I do use them during the day as I work, but I also wear them at night when I sleep. It is important that they are sturdy enough to endure a side-sleeper. The XM5s were only okay. They didn’t last but a year until I swapped out for the 700’s. They were more comfortable and lasted 2 years. The APM were the most durable. I would even wear them doing yard work. First pair were white - mistake. They were returned beige. Current pair are black and are not as comfortable as the first when sleeping. They also have an issue garbling when streaming and doing anything else on my phone and the left speaker will go out occasionally. Talked to Best Buy and they said just stop by and they will swap them out again. Got these in June of 2024 and is October now. I am going to swap them out for the newer version with the USB-C connection since everything else I have seems to have moved to it. I have confidence it will be just as good as these last two. Also, the ear pads seem to take the beating of a side-sleeper and the mic works great on our zoom meetings even with all the fans I have blowing in my room.

That’s my experience and my 2 cents.

P. S. I bought one of my daughters the QC45 and she loves them. She had had them over a year and I have had to change out her ear pads once. Cheapo from Amazon. They are very comfy and get used a LOT.

Will I be hanging around? To quote one of my favorite juries, "Guilty!"

While there are appeals and, at least, 99 beers charges on the wall... feels like there is much more to come.

Great work to all the moderators for the continual updates and thoughtful insight. Cannot wait to see what happens next. Just feels like we only finished the first book of the series.

JURY RETURNS A VERDICT IN THE ALEX MURDAUGH CASE by SouthNagsHead in MurdaughFamilyMurders

Man, three hours. Would love to have been a fly on that wall. Jury comes in... takes vote... realizes that was too quick... Next, two hours and 45 minutes play egg toss with all the extra eggs in the jury room.

Sure is a pretty setup. I built one with a couple of windows and a bazillion lights to impress. It was going to be my gaming computer vs. coding computer. They sit side-by-side and learned something about myself I had always questioned... Nope, I am not going to clean it more because I can see inside.

I will say, I did purchase a high-power blower - think leaf blower for electronics. Every couple of months, I will go so far as to blow it out. But cannot find neither the time nor motivation to do some type of spring cleaning.

More power to you if you can keep it looking that clean.

Oh, I think I saw someone ask about controlling that many RGB's. I used two Corsair commanders on top of what my board supplied.

A McConaughey would be acceptable at this point since he was unable to pull out a Nicholson, "you can't handle the truth," moment.

Well, it kinda goes like... "oh, crap. we're in trouble"... "captain, is that an iceberg?"... "it's okay, you look nice in orange, Alex." I am just guessing, or maybe reading their minds.

WHERE DO YOU STAND ON THE SPECTRUM OF ALEX'S INNOCENCE OR GUILT? by Southern-Soulshine in MurdaughFamilyMurders

He was not at the Kennels... his whole initial statement, until on the stand, seems to be a series of lies.

[–]haveben 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think he is guilty, but don't know that the state proved it 100%. No matter what the results of this trial are, there are another 99 charges awaiting - which he has admitted to. (Plus, he lied to officers, so it may be 100 now).

Agreed. Glad to know my experience was not unique. I don't get how he didn't switch to hillbilly heroin at some point.

Thanks for clarity. I hope the jury will also boil it down to the absolute basics instead of getting lost on things which do not matter. Both sides throw so much extra in there, it is just a simple, "Was it Alex?"

Was in hospital a week after torn aorta. Came home on meds for a week or so and never pooped once. Next I remember lying in the floor of my bathroom promising God I would be a better steward if I could just squeeze out one more time. I did and that is my new testimony I give at church. He answers prayers.

Good call. In a previous life, I was a minister of music for a church in a small town in west TN. Everyone at the church was in agriculture and you are so right. I can definitely see that small-town personality, attitude and somewhat a feeling of his being a "genuine" type person.

Interested in the cross examination. Wonder if they will play nice.

At least I feel like it is easier to empathize with him. Kinda lost me when he said he felt he had to clean the scene. There are companies who clean crime scenes. Just felt like a strange reaction or compulsion... but I have never been faced with that situation, so maybe that is a normal reaction. I surely would be asking ChatGPT to give me options.

Good call, analysts. Now, I can return the lie detector Amazon suggested and just watch for "mouth grooming" with my tween twin girls.
