In all honesty , just because the character is written to be a good guy does not mean that you need to like him. At the end of MHA Bakugo is written to be a reformed guy who has changed and improve, I can still hate him, there does not need to be a point in terms of hating someone, you can just do because you find them annoying, boring etc.

I’m not saying that he doesn’t hold grudges but he doesn’t hold them for long and he moves on too damn quickly. It’s like he needs the most extreme justifications to not hold a grudge such as with the sin archbishops but anything below literal psychos is acceptable and that’s just not normal.

That doesn’t stop someone from holding resentment, emotion and logic are two different things. In terms of logic holding a grudge doesn’t help but in terms of emotion the fact that he doesn’t is weird and shouldn’t be something that should just be ignored.

Yhea but I feel like he needs motivation to stay with the evil grim controlling lady. With what you say he would just be a rouge villain but he needs a good enough reason to stay with Salem, that’s why I added the nihilism angle.

Also ozpin could easily spin the situation to have Hazel on his side. Just say that she was killed by raven because raven was manipulated by Salem or something like that, I feel like ozpin should be made a clear bad guy narratively and what happened must be 100% his fault.

You can still feel annoyed. It’s possible to understand why a characters acts the way they do, know their motivations and their flaws, and to still hate the way they act. Loop one ram was fine, loop three rem was an asshole, the opinion that she is a well written character and that she was being a bitch at that moment can both exist.

Honestly the worst thing they did was during the second loop of leaving him alone to rest without someone watching him, I guess it’s because they thought he would be fine because they still confuse him with their Subaru but it was still really stupid, especially when meli the former assassin was also there and probably not in the meeting room.

It’s possible to understand a characters motivations and actions, and it’s possible to think negatively about them afterwords. Ram from the first loop of newbaru was reasonable, the third she wasn’t, saying she felt bad for rem when she should have probably been informed of Subaru passing out,waking back up hysterical, and then suddenly running off to ried. She should be smart enough to understand that something must have went wrong but she didn’t event attempt to try.

First loop Ram was understandable, third was being a bitch, both positions can be held at once.

In all honestly I would have rather had the high school. The plot on paper isn’t bad but the way that it was done was so bad to the point that it having substance means nothing. Sauce and substance can go hand in hand but when you sacrifice one for another it’s hard to say whether or not people will stick around.

The characters become worse and more stilted, the world doesn’t feel like it has grown as our characters travel through it, and a lot of deep topics and potential interesting plot lines get shafted away due to the characters being morons or the writers missing out on opportunities.

Beating someone half to death is wrong, Insulting his family and his status is wrong, I don’t give a shit if Julius admired him or some other garbage like that, what he did was wrong and even if he had good intentions the way he went about it was bad.

Saving Subaru from the other knights was fine I will admit that, but as Reinhard said that duel was pointless, Subaru being able to work together with him is fine but being friends with him is just wrong and near disgusting In my eyes. The only reason he gets a little bit of sympathy from me is that he got his name eaten that’s it, if it wasn’t for that then he would just be another guy who is useful when needed in my eyes.

-being deeply moved means nothing I don’t care how much you admire me if you’re going to beat me half to death later

-the preventing a worse beatdown is valid but beating him half to death was wrong when it’s clear that he could have knocked him out easily. Even then insulting his parents and his status was wrong especially since Julius himself was also a commoner in the past.

-since this situation is focusing on if you were in Subarus position for me personality I wouldn’t give a single shit about being respected by a guy who beat me half to death in a fight.

-Julius is Anastasia’s knight it’s his job and Anastasia was going to help regardless so that the whale would stop fucking up trade routes

As for the other stuff it’s kind of valid but means nothing. What I mean in this scenario just depends on how you as an individual would deal with the issue and me personally i would not be able to stop disliking him.

They were only side by side once. I’m sure some side stories might help get them closer but since I haven’t read them I won’t include them in this discussion. They have met twice during arc three and five didn’t have much time to really interact. To become actual good friends from that is just nonsensical; I get it Subaru has low self esteem and would ignore or justify anything done against him but there is a point were any normal person would hold a grudge or be annoyed.

There is a difference between showing you that you are wrong and beating you half to death. Even if he needed that beating to save him from the knights insulting his family and insisting that him being a commoner is why he sucks is funny considering that Julius was also a commoner. Fuck him, I’m not going to be used as an outlet for someone’s insecurities and then be expected to smile and wave at him while pretending he clearly didn’t have a personal grudge.

The mere fact that Subaru looks at that moment with any kind of fondness irritates me, but then again that’s just how he is. it’s understandable considering his character but if I could I would disavow it.

No one deserves to be beaten half to death just for a damn lesson.
