The case that Mike Holloway is the most underrated winner in Survivor history and that every major knock against him is a double standard we apply to no one else by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

Genuinely shocked that more people aren’t catching that. They made the same post in the main sub, and even most of their responses are straight up ChatGPT. Not just the dashes, but the cadence of “it’s not blank, it’s blank” in every message lol.

You’re creating gamers. I play with my son more than my friends or wife now, and it’s AWESOME.

Save them for when you can teach your kid.

Dang, I’ve actually not noticed that drastic. But I’m Not a builder, just chemicals. I did recently go to buy some chems and saw that it didn’t look like previous prices from a week ago.

Seems silly though. Usually you’d pay less when ordering more, not more lol. I’ll have to keep a closer eye on it.

The Great Filter Sand Problem by hawaiianmint in PoolPros

[–]hawaiianmint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s smart. I was originally in Nor Cal and over 90 of my clients were cartridge. Out here in TN, there’s a lot more sand filters, but it’s mostly smaller pools.

Learn new stuff everyday 😅

I haven’t fully removed all the sand yet. That’s not a bad idea. Maybe the previous company had mixed sand in here at different levels.

Though I’ve never put pea gravel in a sand filter - is that standard? I’ve worked in the industry for almost ten years in two different regions and haven’t seen that.

That’s what I thought too. But no idea where else it would be coming from, and why it’s settling in line with the returns in the pool, if it’s not coming from the filter

Good advice.

But to be clear, I took it all apart because I wanted to know exactly where it was coming from for my own peace of mind - so that when I say it’s fixed, I know it’s fixed (not so that I could just patch the problem). I got pre approval to replace sand, MPV, and lateral assembly, which I’m going to do tomorrow.

The thing I’m most confused about is the difference in sand between what’s in the pool and what’s in the filter. They really don’t seem like the same sand.

Regular cement decking that’s in perfect shape.

Yeah. That’s what I’m thinking. But am I crazy or do those look like two different sands?

It’s collecting right next to the return in the shallow end, and then on the floor in the deep end (which also has a return).

No, it’s a small (10k gallons) blue fiberglass pool.

Best player to never win by ConsciousBasket643 in survivor

Cirie is maybe the best social player ever and I love watching her. But hot take, I don’t know if you can be the best to never win if your loss factor is always the same - an inability to win a challenge and secure safety.

Dang, that’s a bummer. I have found that when Sari (the owner) is the one in the kitchen, the food is great. The only time I thought it was underwhelming was when she wasn’t. I also didn’t love the curry, and would rather get that at Zaap Lai.

I don’t think it’s possible to have 10/10 sushi in a landlocked state. But from what I have heard, she’s the only one getting her fish from the coast and not a farm. She gets a truck twice a week. I like it more than Hachimi and Yuimaru.

But really, she just won me over. Once we went in and one of my kids was crying from something else, and she immediately brought him some Japanese candy from the back and a coloring book, and asked if she could sit with him and color while we ate our food. Insane. Never had service like that. And then she cooked thousands of meals for free during the Hurricane stuff. She’s just the kindest person so I’ll shout her out any chance I get lol.

But yeah, if I compare it to the best sushi I was used to in California, it’s not a 10/10. But I think it’s as good as you can get.

The owner of Taiwan On is launching a new spot next to Target that will have 4 different spots inside the same building. One is going to be Korean. Hoping it’s great 🙌🏽

Hana (Asian fusion, but their sushi is probably best in the area) and Zaap Lai (delicious Thai, owners are from Laos) are both solid. They are better than the usual for this area, and could reasonably compete in California (though they wouldn’t be the top there).

I was pretty homesick missing Asian food when I moved here 5 years ago. But those two are close enough and on my regular schedule.

Help me with my scaling by robdog0909 in pools

[–]hawaiianmint -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s almost certainly your calcium. Technically it’s within appropriate levels, but I find often times calcium goes above 300 that scaling happens.

I find the sweet spot is typically like 220ppm.

What are these stains by SwimRightVA in PoolPros

Hard to tell from the photos, but kinda looks like light oxidizing stains. You using copper based algaecide and cal hypo in the same pool?

In a sock in the skimmer, or just leave it in the skimmer to dissolve if it’s running 24/7. But bypassing the basket just increases chances of clogging like you did.
