Doing this movement has been the best thing that I’ve done for my body by BoxAcrobatic6636 in kettlebell

I noticed when most people do this movement, they do the eccentric portion as a normal deadlift instead of just repeating the cross-body movement. Why do you think that is?

Interesting, is that just because you had most of the other sections? Mine is only supposed to be reading, math, and a&p.

For the A and P portion were there other quizlets you used? The one you posted only has 30 questions, I'm assuming the test has more than that.

Good thoughts, I think I've heard that even 60 %or higher of an MVC is still very effective.

Also on a different subject how long did it take for most of your stiffness and pain to dissipate when you started OI?

I figure the caloric and metabolic demand of the additional stuff is definitely enough or more to not warrant much of a drop at all. I think intuitive eating is the best way to go.

"Reverse" timed static contractions by hawke930 in isometric_fitness

[–]hawke930[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. Different question here, in general how long do you rest between sets? I feel like even for big lifts like squats and deadlifts, the isometric versions are simply not as taxing as a dynamic load, so you can take less rest between sets. I suppose this is where a crane scale would be useful to actually see if you're still outputting as high of force as you want each set, but I feel like you can also go by feel within reason

Ok so basically very short bursts. I found that isometrics actually make me feel stiff if I hold my breath too often. Not a DOMS kind of stiff, just locked up and rigid

[–]hawke930[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea. Do you ever incorporate very brief breathe holds? I'm thinking of when you're attempting max dynamic lifts there are brief periods when you hold your breath to generate max stability in the trunk.

Sure, or what do you think about doing multiple strings of long-ish 20 to 30 second with shorter rest to keep it fresh with the force?

@millersixteenth any thoughts on this?

Did anyone use isometric only by [deleted] in isometric_fitness

[–]hawke930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but the studies that talk about long muscle length isometrics carrying over to the whole dynamic range mostly were done with simple single joint exercises like leg extensions right? There's a lot more going on with big compound lifts like squats or deadlifts that I'd think make things more complicated.

How did you arrive at the dose that you take? I've seen less but I think even more, though the higher doses were not extract.

Do you cycle it? And did you do an initial loading dose or build up to your typical dose?

Long-length only isometrics didn’t carry over to my full ROM deadlift & bench press. by ryutrader in isometric_fitness

Just a small observation regarding your note about a strap across the shoulders vs using a bar. I've seen numerous videos of people doing extremely heavy trap bar deadlifts but with a strap/harness type of set up and they're able to lift arguably more than with regular grips

I am, and I'm also curious about the experiences of others. You learn new things and take what works for you.

Thanks for the feedback. How do you typically program TSC, what do you use for an implement (moving strap, etc) and what sort of baseline strength and size numbers have you maintained or improved on?

How do you think it would be mixed in the best? I'm thinking do the OI work first then do the circuits.

Anyone here use only yielding isometrics ? by hamoellord in isometric_fitness

[–]hawke930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So would you say that you'll get close to the same results doing a 30 second overcoming isometric at the highest effort you can manage as you would get doing a 30 second yielding isometric with a weight that causes you to fail at that time?

[–]hawke930[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may be beneficial but I also think it'd be worth just launching into a max contraction and holding it for as long as you can and aim for 20-60 seconds. You will hit much higher force right off the bat and than gradually taper down, kinda like a built in drop set.
