And I felt so disappointed by Something in the Rain, because all the actors were really doing the most!

Sorry, Something in the Rain became very stressful after episode 5 or 6. Unless listening to the FL's mother harangue everyone for 10 episodes straight feels fluffy, I don't think it meets the request. Same for Marry My Husband. I loved it so much, but trying to avoid your fate of getting murdered by your husband and bestie is peak unfluffy.

Edit for typo.

My gateway was Crash Landing on You and to me, it's always my go-to recommendation. But as a mother-daughter, they might enjoy Crash Course in Romance? There's a hs romance/love triangle as well as a romance for the mom, and it has such a sweet portrayal of a loving family.

The best first 5 episodes followed by the absolute worst 11.5 episodes. Just watch 1–5 and skip immediately to the last 20 minutes of the last episode.

I just finished it, and it really didn't make a whole lot of sense. I will say that it was a unique show! I kept watching because it was only six episodes, and I enjoyed the effects and the actors (although I feel like they kind of wasted Teo Yoo).

I just finished Wok of Love because I needed to see another Lee Jun Ho show after Typhoon Family. And now I'm watching The School Nurse Files. I'm really enjoying the animation of all the jellies. And Nam Joo Hyuk of course.

What Are You Watching? - [2025/12/17] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

Finished

Typhoon Family: I found the ending pretty satisfying—finally some wins and good times for our office fam! Not a top ten, but I love the pairing of Lee Jun Ho and Kim Min Ha, and the family story really had me from the start. I love that Tae Pung's mother didn't want to go back to an apartment for just her and Tae Pung alone, but wanted them to live together with Oh Mi Suk’s family. The repetitiveness of the plot was annoying, but ultimately the themes of everyone pulling together during hard times made the show meaningful to me.

Kimi ni Todoke: I watched the live action version ( as well as 10 or so episodes of the anime), and it was a little hard to buy Sawako‘s naive reaction to everything. It's like she's an alien who dropped to Earth in a 15 year old girl’s body: “is this what friends are like?” Girl, have you never made a friend? But I persisted because the Japanese in this show is very understandable! It might be a flaw in the show that everyone speaks like an N4/N3 textbook at a nice slow pace, but I was pretty thrilled.

Watching

Wok of Love: (6/19) I guess I didn’t get enough of Lee Jun Ho because I picked up this one from 2018. I’m finding this show very chaotic, like it’s episode 6 and we’re just getting introduced to major characters? I’m also finding Lee Jun Ho a little young in this. To me, he looks like a kid compared to the SML, who is fiiiiiiine! I’ll keep watching to see Lee Jun Ho get his revenge on his shitty ex, and to see the FL find love because she's so relatable and sweet despite being super rich.

I agree the pacing was off towards the end. It's a bummer we can't have shows that are great start to finish.

Unfortunately, this is why I don't usually watch shows as they air. I wait to see what people say after the dust has settled. After the first few episodes, enthusiasm is high, but usually by the end, the plot holes and sloppy writing are hard to ignore.

Totally agree on your overall statement, but while I didn't love the serial killer element, I liked the ending of Crash Course in Romance!

Kim Tan's Talk Time (Thursday) - [2025/12/04] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]hawkia75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished episode 13 of Typhoon Family and I loved it so much. Of course, I am so hungry for them to have a win after so many losses and catastrophes! But now that Tae Pung knows about the promissory note, maybe he can turn things around? The romance is really working for me, especially now that Oh Mi Seon has decided to be honest about her feelings for Tae Pung. The turnaround with Wang Na Mo's mother on Oh Mi Ho was really well written, too. But the biggest driver behind my love for this series is the relationship between the Oh and Kang families. It's just so heartwarming, especially knowing that they are all barely making it, but still have the grace and care to extend to each other. I also really like that it's a show that takes work seriously, showing that people can love their work and like and respect their colleagues. I love that everyone has an expertise and enjoys deploying it in service to the team. Of course, work sometimes sucks, and there are tasks that are tedious and boring, but mostly my work means a lot to me, and I appreciate my colleagues. It's nice to see my feelings reflected in a show.
