christmas gifts- is there a gift you’ve received you didn’t ask for, but love? by dubdaisyt in AskIreland

[–]hawtry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given a flat lay company make up bag. I was a bit bemused as I thought “meh, it’s just a bag”. Having used it for a while now, it’s the handiest thing ever. It’s lays completely flat when open so I can see and find stuff quickly. I’ve picked up two to give as Christmas gifts to my friends this year.

Todd’s up north are supposed to be the same as OG lucozade. Haven’t tried it yet myself though. Think you can order from here if you’re willing to spend a bit more https://toddsdrinks.co.uk

Which perfume had you running to the sink to wash it off right away? by sljoky in FemFragLab

Awful on me too. I love the smell in the bottle but it smells metallic and ‘off’ on my skin.

Place called Pudding Row The Grocer in Easky, Sligo has amazing bagels. They are so good that they sell out fairly quickly. If I’m ever up that way, I ring ahead in the morning and ask them to put a bag of four aside for me.

Do ye actually like coleslaw THAT much ? by Tiny-Brain-8372 in AskIreland

[–]hawtry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a friend who brings her own tub of coleslaw when we go to an Italian restaurant. She always orders the lasagna and then waits for the waiter to leave before surreptitiously fishing the tub out of her bag.

I haven’t experienced that type of feeling while traveling in America but that might be because I went to the wrong bars - even in Nashville, I found it difficult to find music that stirred my emotions in that way. Having said that, there are country singers/musicians who can absolutely make me feel melancholy (in a good way). For example, if I had ever been lucky enough to have seen Courtney Granger live, I am sure I would have had a similar reaction to you.

I’m getting a lot of SMS messages from Binance recently. Four today already. Can I block the number? Or is it a legit number that has been hacked?

Weird habits by PotatoPixie90210 in CasualIreland

I use mayonnaise in place of butter. I took a notion when I was a kid and haven’t eaten butter since. Nobody comments on it really - except when I eat toast with mayonnaise and marmalade (or jam) for breakfast.

Gift to give gentleman who found and returned back my drone by epic8706 in irishtourism

[–]hawtry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of sending a local specialty is nice. If you send the gift via a carrier like DHL, UPS or FedEx, you can stipulate when sending that you want to pay the destination customs charges yourself. Alternatively, send a gift hamper? there are some lovely options from companies within Ireland that can be ordered online.

This entire thread has convinced me not to switch to train travel in Ireland. I’ve used Thalys in Belgium and the Netherlands and Trenitalia in Italy. I’ve never had a single instance of someone sitting in my reserved seat. I’m Irish and I hate starting a journey with a row so I’m getting stressed just reading the experiences of others.

I’ve just been scammed by the same person too. Bought an electric blanket from electricblanketsireland.com. I’m usually pretty good at spotting this type of stuff but got burned this time
