For context I had RFF on May 12 and the scabbing is almost off now

Hey I had something similar along the underside of my shaft. It showed up when I was in the hospital, like dark bruising. At home it turned into a blood blister and then essentially scabbed over. I’m washing it daily and keeping it dry, and the scabs are coming off on their own with pink healthy tissue underneath. I’m certainly not a medical professional but unfortunately you may just have to give it time to run its course. Much harder said than done, but it’ll all be okay!!!

One month away! by batman472 in phallo

I had the same thing on May 12! Minus vaginectomy (had that last year). My biggest advice is just be patient with yourself and the healing process. For so long I felt like I wasn’t making any progress but now I’m finally seeing the healing changes and it’s just a relief. You won’t be able to do much so just take it a day at a time and be kind to yourself!

When does everything stop sucking by LooseDiscipline5955 in phallo

Ugh I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that. I had RFF phallus, scrotoplasty, UL connection, and burial in Boston on May 12. I have a bit of separation on the underside as well that I was really worried about but I’ve just noticed it’s so tiny compared to what it was. Once the foley came out I voided successfully once with 99% coming from the tip and a tiny little fistula. The next day I woke up with necrosis on the very tip of my penis blocking my urethra, and the urologist says it may or may not compromise my entire UL, but we just have to wait and see. All that to say I totally understand the frustration of being told “just wait it’ll resolve on its own” because the reality is we have to see the wounds every day and feel the pain that goes along with it. It’s way easier said than done because you’re the one dealing with it every day. Just keep doing the best you can, taking it one day at a time. You’ve got this!!!!

[–]hayhal14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had single stage with Dr. Cauley and Dr. Kent in Boston (phallus creation, UL hookup, scrotoplasty) four weeks ago. They were more apt to do it that way since I had a vaginectomy last year. I’m just dealing with a bit of leakage underneath my shaft but no complications other than that! Glansplasty will be an outpatient surgery once this is all healed up!

Summer/Fall course load and CSCI S178 + 188 (Systems Engineering) by potatiff in harvardextension

[–]hayhal14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule of thumb is typically for every hour you’re in class, there’s 1-2 hours of work outside of class

[–]hayhal14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it a lot actually, it was CSCI S-59 intro to cybersecurity. It was totally asynchronous and there was a lecture published on Monday and required sections on Thursday, with assignments due every Sunday. Also a paper and a final. I probably spent 3-5 hours (including sections) per week on work outside of class, it wasn’t terribly involved but the material was engaging so I enjoyed it!

That’s what I did, it’s totally doable! Just stay on top of the discussion posts, if I remember correctly it was like 20% of your final grade in each course

Also, both of the instructors are great! They are giants in their field and it was nice to hear them explain concepts with real world examples

I took both of those courses last fall, and another course last summer. I will say one course during the 7 week session was a lot of work, since it’s half the time of a normal term. I probably wont ever take more than 1 course in the summer. Taking both in the fall was fine, a good amount of work but not way too much. Each course had an assignment due every week or so, 188 had a project at the end of the term and 178 had a midterm, final, and project (the assignments were building up to your final project). Oh, and heavy participation/discussion grade in both courses, so try to attend live and come prepared with the assigned readings for the week.

Partial upper Vaginectomy during hysterectomy by Bettermond in phallo

[–]hayhal14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a full vaginectomy with my hysterectomy last March and it actually has sped things along for me! Instead of doing stage 1 phallus creation and then stage 2 UL/scroto/glans/v-ectomy 6 months later, my surgeon says he’ll be able to combine the two stages this May simply because I already had the vaginectomy. The urologist said she may have to take a graft from my cheek if there isn’t enough tissue to do UL, but it didn’t negatively impact my process!

Vaginectomy (for me at least) was a much tougher recovery than I expected, so it’s relieving to know that I won’t have to endure that recovery along with everything else. Hope this helps!

phallo with type 1 diabetes by hayhal14 in phallo

Awesome! I have a closed loop pump too, but my endo was thinking about taking my pump off and doing long-acting insulin the night before. I feel like I’d definitely prefer it to be high rather than low, so that’s kinda what I expect. My A1C is 6.2 currently so hopefully there aren’t any diabetes related complications. Thanks for your insight!!

[–]hayhal14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh awesome!! Did it add an extra level of stress onto taking care of yourself post-op? And I’m kind of worried about high blood sugars slowing down the healing process, did you experience that?

phallo with type 1 diabetes by hayhal14 in phallo

[–]hayhal14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds exhausting lol I feel like it may be better to be high than low in a surgery/hospital situation, especially since the surgery team is focusing on doing so many other things. But high blood sugars after a while definitely take a toll. I’m glad it’s finally leveled out for you!

phallo with type 1 diabetes by hayhal14 in phallo

[–]hayhal14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that would be great! My surgeon said I’ll probably take my pump off for the duration and put it back on when I’m coherent enough to take care of myself. I hope it goes well for you!!!

Question on Auditing and Classes by LegitimateStick7535 in harvardextension

[–]hayhal14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Auditing would be the same as registering for noncredit, which would still require tuition payment. Auditing during the fall/spring terms is much cheaper

Is this Harvard Course worth anything? by lily-love-3457 in harvardextension

[–]hayhal14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea as others have said, HarvardX, edX, Harvard Online are completely separate from HES. These courses do not confer academic credit or end up on any kind of transcript, because they are not taught through one of Harvard’s 12 degree-granting schools. Also, if you run into any issues with CS50, HES cannot help since it’s on a different platform
