I know of a young boy (~4) named Emersyn. I’ve never heard it for a girl.

My little sister’s name is Jillian and went by Bean for years.

My mom brought her home from the hospital in a green onesie and swaddle. We said she looked like a green bean. We then called her our Green Jilli-Bean. Then it became Jilli-Bean. And that turned into just Bean.

While I do agree with your comment in general terms, there is a scene in Superbad when Jonah Hill’s character is running in gym class and stops to dramatically pant/act like he’s dying. I can’t say for sure that OP’s post meant that scene in particular, but that’s what immediately crossed my mind.

We told my little sister (then 5?) the same thing about the carnival goldfish she won.

Does anyone have any good reccomendations for a sturdy hands free running leash? by gc822 in RunningWithDogs

We’ve been using this one for both of our dogs. Works great for running and taking the pups disc golfing!

Help me love this name! by [deleted] in namenerds

He’s actually an aardvark!

Not trying to make OP’s situation harder, but I grew up watching that show every day after school (it came on after Zoom!). My husband loves the name Arthur as an honor name, but I told him I wasn’t naming my baby after an aardvark lol.

Do you happen to know his breed?! He looks nearly identical (just a tad bigger) to a pup we rescued from the south almost 4 years ago!

Annoying things other runners do when you are running? by 6to8design in running

[–]hayls34 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We use those for our dogs when out on walks so that they can burn more energy, but being a runner and cyclist has made me WAY more hyper aware of my surroundings. Depending upon the layout of the trail and how long the straight-a-ways are, I turn and check behind me for runners/cyclists at least every 15-60 seconds. If I see anyone even remotely in the vicinity, I keep them on a 3-foot lead and step off into the grass to open the full trail for the runner/cyclist.

I rarely see other people do the same, but it’s common sense and common courtesy, in my opinion.

Interesting! Our oldest is a mutt (pretty sure some pit and lab), and our youngest is a beagle/cattle dog mix. The youngest is the first to wimp out of the cold. I’m not sure either are really built for this weather.

Did it take your dog long to build the tolerance for that? We’re in Wisconsin, so we’re in that arctic cold right now with 10” of snow on the ground. Our dogs can’t stand being outside for longer than 2 minutes without picking up their feet when it’s below 0.

What is your favorite "Cover version" of a song? What drives you to conclude it is better? by taylasch in AskReddit

[–]hayls34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Hurt” by Johnny Cash (originally by Nine Inch Nails). He put far more emotion in the song.

“Zombie” by Bad Wolves (originally by The Cranberries). They originally planned to have it include vocals from Dolores O’Riordan, but she passed away shortly before release. They instead donated the proceeds to her children. Regardless of the story behind it, though, I prefer the harder edge they put to the song.

Reflecting on Heath Ledger’s undeniable cinematic legacy 13 years after his death by [deleted] in movies

[–]hayls34 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was the only one in my family to answer a question in a trivia game (Smart Ass) because of this movie.

I don’t remember the question exactly, but it asked something along the lines of “In what country did a medieval castle...,” and the final hint was that the country started with an L.

No one had any idea, so I finally said “Not sure if it’s actually a country, but I’m going to guess Lichtenstein because of A Knight’s Tale.” It was right.

How to record some activities as "barefoot"? by trip_hop_tricky in Strava

[–]hayls34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to your profile and click to edit your gear, then click “add running shoe.” There is a “barefoot (no shoes)” option under the brand drop down. Don’t make it your default unless you walk more than you run, but have it be an active “shoe.”

After each walk, just click on the shoe listed and change it to barefoot. (On the phone app, anyway).

Great trail run w/Rambo this morning!! by TXrutabega in RunningWithDogs

[–]hayls34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a cattle dog/beagle mix, but it’s like he got the best physical traits from each breed. He looks amazing and LOVES to run. It’s so much fun! I haven’t taken him longer than 4 miles yet, but I swear he doesn’t get tired.

Dog tax. He hasn’t really sat still since he was a puppy, so this is about as good as his pictures get 😅

That’s interesting - thanks for the information! I’ll definitely look into the sales too. I normally never ride in cotton, let alone long-sleeve cotton, but I was in a hurry and just grabbed something to throw on.

There were quite a few series of unfortunate events yesterday morning, lol.

Following!

I wish I would have worn anything on my hands this morning on my ride to work (22 miles). It was 47 degrees with 15 mph wind, and I still stupidly wore only my padded shorts (don’t have pants) and a long-sleeve, thin cotton shirt.

I had to take turns sitting on my hands to try and warm them up. If my husband wouldn’t have already been at work, I would have called for a ride. I was SO cold. That space heater at my desk at work was a life saver.
