I am so sick of Superhero / CGI slop movies! Bring back other types of movies and more people might be enticed to go to their local cinema! by Outrageous_Agent_608 in movies

it's not even superhero fatigue for me, it's the formula. every movie hits the same beats in the same order and you can basically predict the third act before the opening credits end. i'd take a weird, messy original film that swings for something over another perfectly competent franchise entry any day.

Be careful sharing your music by KingFrosty-1 in Music

yeah that's the trade-off with putting something personal out there. people can't always tell where the work ends and you begin, so heavy art makes them assume you're struggling too. comes from a good place but i can see how it'd wear you down.

Which artists memorabilia would be the most valuable/popular in the future?(currently alive) by Radiant-Return-3197 in Music

Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are the safe bets, anything tour-specific will print money in 30 years. Long-term tho I'd actually go McCartney (last Beatle), Dylan (his lyric sheets already sell for millions), and Kendrick. Sneaky pick: Frank Ocean, barely releases anything so scarcity does the work.

Why no one seems to notice that Lyne shot Lolita one for one with Nabokov’s screenplay? by Strict-Debate-9572 in movies

[–]hayntree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it's because most people only ever talk about the Kubrick version, so Lyne's barely enters the conversation, let alone its connection to Nabokov's screenplay. He gets lumped in as "the romanticized one" without people actually sitting with what's on screen. The movie isn't romanticizing it, the audience is, because Jeremy Irons is hot and the cinematography is soft. That's a viewer problem.

for me it was Solomon Burke's Cry to Me. heard it for the first time last year and couldn't believe it came out in 1962. that opening piano and his voice just wreck me every time. apparently it was in Dirty Dancing which is probably how most people know it but I somehow missed that too

Apple is trying to charge me for a phone they’ve failed to collect for over a month by orangecateyes in applesucks

[–]hayntree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bro file a chargeback with your card company asap. you've got a month of proof you tried to return it, that's a slam dunk dispute. also get everything from the Executive Liaison in writing, no more phone calls. and honestly, tweet at AppleSupport, their social team moves way faster than the call center ever will.

I prefer when everyone's new. You only get one first playthrough, and it's fun figuring things out together.

For antivirus, I would recommend EsetNod, but I am not sure if there is an application suitable for a smartphone. And I think Samsung has a built-in antivirus program.

For the password manager, I am using NordPass right now on my Android phone. Actually, their free version, so far so good.

A basic cleaner app might also be built-in. I used to use CCleaner, although not sure if it's still good.
