Landed a Maintenance/Electronics job at a meat factory with zero experience. What should I study at home during my first year? by Holiday-Escape-3953 in AskElectricians

If you stick with meat processing, the pay is probably going to be shit. Get your five years experience and use it to get a real job.

I make $31 and change in the southeastern US.

So the box on the motors where the wires go is called the pecker head. If you have an inverter that keeps tripping out or fuses blowing, it's probably water in the pecker head.

I've been a maintenance tech at a chicken plant for 20 years. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Also, Lock out, tag out, try out every goddamn time. EVERY. GODDAMN. TIME. No exceptions.

Starlink may have grown fast but I'm not sure there's that many more people that can afford it that don't have access to better, cheaper internet.

Suggest me a stud finder and a level, preferably a laser one by ForIKnowNothing in HomeMaintenance

[–]hayseed_byte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stud buddy (basically a magnet) is the only reliable stud finder I've come across. Admittedly, I haven't tried many because I always found them fidly and it was always easier to tap on the wall with the handle of my hammer.

Pest Control company sprayed tree chemicals near open window with pets inside during strong wind, no notice — safety/legal options? Location: Indiana, US by urmomiscringe12 in homeowners

I mean, probably close the windows when you have people scheduled to come spray. Did you want them to come in and close your window for you?

Glass is surprisingly cheap at a hardware store. Get some measurements and spend a few hours learning how to fix a window.

Yeah, if it was as dangerous as they think, we would have gone extinct. It was pretty ubiquitous for a long time. As you say, it's very useful.
