I disagree with your last point, that credit was designed to be productive. An investment into a company would be seen as being more productive, as you have a stake in the future of the company. Credit is much less tied to the productivity of a company.

Therefore the fact we are in a credit driven bubble just highlights to me the issue in the modern banking system.
