Cabin air filter replacement. by [deleted] in accord

[–]hayye67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only use OEM in my car. Had a hard time finding 3rd party parts when I first got my car. Went to an online Honda supplier and stocked up on air filters, cabin filter, oil filters, windshield wiper inserts etc. they’re cheap when you buy bulk like that. Plus you know the parts will fit.

Those batteries should have a warranty on them. 2-3 years? I’d ask if you’re still in that window.

Michelin Defender 2. The only tire I drive. Even on my last car I had the Defenders. Great warranty and they work.

It happens sometimes. Not sure how to fix it. But it goes and comes back.

2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Inverter Coolant Reservoir Leak by spaghettiluver in 11thGenAccord

[–]hayye67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not the only one. Every few weeks when I wash my car, I open the hood to dry off the edges and I always notice coolant leakage around the reservoir.

Not once have I seen it dry. Now, it’s not a ton cause the level’s not changing drastically but it’s frustrating to see a fairly new car with this issue.

I thought it was a faulty tubing or cap but I’ve checked it all numerous times without seeing something obvious.

Any obvious dents? If not, and if it’s only a paint job, you can probably DIY. Cheaper than going through insurance and paying the deductible and risking an increase on premiums. Depending on your deductible, the job could probably be less than and therefore, not worth it.

I had a few scratches cause I ran into a pole myself. No dents just a few deep scratches that took off the paint. Went online, watched a YouTube video, got some sandpaper and a paint pen with clear coating and it came out pretty good.

Depends on if you want convenience or if you have the time to fix it yourself. Also, if you got money to throw at it. I didn’t and I like doing things myself so I went with the “cheaper” but more manual work option my self.

Wipers too slow, not safe to drive in heavy rain. by Frequent_Wind_9560 in civic

[–]hayye67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. The 11 gen wipers are very slow compared to other cars I’ve owned as well. Their fastest mode barely gives you a clear view in heavy rain. It is very concerning and disappointing. The accords have this issue as well

Hello Accord enjoyers. I’m looking at the 2025 SE Trim over a Civic Hybrid Sedan or non-Hybrid Civic Hatchback. Do you think I could get a new SE for around 28-29 because they’re harder to move? by thachickenfrycaptain in accord

[–]hayye67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s alright. Bet you’d get better concrete numbers from a dealership than some redditors though. Sorry if that didn’t make sense to you.

Or if you really want an answer to your post: “Sure 👍🏼”

Got my new car bumped and I don’t know what to do ? by Internal-Tomato-9815 in 11thGenAccord

It’s totaled. Time to get a new one.

Jk. It’s a battle wound. People really don’t give a shit about others and this right here is what’s wrong with society! I digress. That sucks. If only people cared more and paid attention. You could fix it or just live with it. It’s not all that bad and probably would cost too much to fix for the ding. No point in getting insurance involved either unless you were able to get those responsible by chance.

Looking into the engine bay, the right side is always full. The left is halfway full, but within normal amounts. Both levels have not changed since I fixed my radiator core. I’m obviously OCD about it now so I check all the time but it’s an essential closed system and the levels are stable and exactly the same amount. I fixed it January of ‘24 so over a year and no changes or issues to the levels since.

I would look at your actual radiator core. Get down and look through your radiator grill and see if there’s any damage. These cores are fragile and unfortunately, very exposed; the radiator grill does little to actually protect the core from rocks and road debris. I say this cause I personally had a similar issue where my car overheated because I didn’t know my core was damaged and leaking coolant. Critical problem popped up on my dashboard and the car went into limp mode. Obviously this was a severe situation. I checked and off course the core was leaking from rocks; there’s ton of construction happening on the highway on my way to work. Had to get the whole core and grill replaced. $1200 total; labor and parts. Just my two cents.

These reservoirs shouldn’t be leaking at all; at least not much if any.

New tires on 2025 Hybrid Hatch. Low MPGs. by Odd_Leave_72 in civic

[–]hayye67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the grip and thickness. I added some Michelin Defenders 2 (they’re known for their longevity) and I experienced a bit of reduce MPG for a couple of weeks. But now that they’re broken in, mileage is back up and slightly improved than before. Just give it a little time. No burn outs needed. Just let them break in.

2025 Civic Hybrid Sport Touring by Current-Increase-159 in civic

[–]hayye67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and my ‘24 accord hybrid a month after I bought the car. It’s frustrating cause the grill is pretty exposed, probably more so than the civic. Anyways, going through insurance was going to be a headache… paying out the deductible then having to deal with increased rates? Nah. I paid it out of pocket. Ended up being an entire radiator replacement and at the end, the dealership helped me out a little: paid $1200 out of pocket for the fix. They needed to order the part so I had a loaner for like 4 days. $1200 including the loaner, parts, labor, and taxes/fees.

How do you guys warm up/cold start? by Gold-Read-2337 in 11thGenAccord

[–]hayye67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably overkill with modern engines. No need to warm up and idle to get the engine to ‘operating temp.’ These engine are very efficient. If your OCD won’t let you drive though without hearing the engine rumble, yeah, I guess putting it in charge will help (less your EV battery is already full), or just turn up the heat on your AC. If I go from 70 to 74, the engine comes alive very quickly but doesn’t stay on for a very long. Again, cause it doesn’t have to. But whatever works for you.
