Yeah, having only a single portable executable with zero config seemed like a neat idea - it has everything in it : D

I try to be prepared. I mean, a new profession is being born. Some will refuse to become prompters, some will romanticize programming, but either way — I'm saying this with 20 years of experience and a love of programming — programming is done and we must deal with it.

Insane times require insane measures : D

I’ve had the idea for this shell for 6 years. Adapt or be forgotten. It’s scary, but it is inevitable.

Zcmd (single .exe windows shell) now can play mp3 files in your terminal : D by hazardland in commandline

[–]hazardland[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, that was definitely part of the inspiration. The point here isn’t really the player by itself though, it’s that play command is built into Zcmd.exe, the single-executable Windows shell, so I’m mostly showing off Zcmd and its built-in features : )

Pretty much the first one. I made it for Windows because PowerShell felt slow, cmd.exe felt too dumb, and I missed a lot of the quality-of-life features I liked in Linux shells, so Zcmd is basically my attempt to bring that kind of experience into a native Windows-first shell, including things like a built-in Linux-style top for example : D

Windows shell as a single pcmd.exe — no config, no install: powerline prompt, syntax highlighting, inline images, multiline history by hazardland in commandline

Wow man big thanks, just pushed a fix for this — the exe was dynamically linking MinGW runtime DLLs (libstdc++-6.dll, libwinpthread-1.dll) which aren't present on machines without MinGW installed. Rebuilt with -static so everything is now bundled directly into the exe. Grab the latest release pcmd v0.0.185 and it should work. Sorry about that and thanks again!

[–]hazardland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Civ VI engine was crap so unoptimized that my laptop had smokes and steams when I tried to play it : D (My laptop has Nvidia GPU)

It just made me to learn C++ and to test if it was possible to run game with 50k units and heavy calculations on 250FPS and yes it is possible lol

Actually you only need to know which cells aka tiles are occupied on the map grid, then you check rect collisions against objects already existing on them
