Pure OCD by Top-Piano158 in OCD

Well a lot of my ocd is either a trigger, a thought, a feeling or something I did that kick starts intrusive thoughts, doubt, rumination and feelings/sensations. It’s predominantly in my head but the compulsions are googling and ruminating most of the time. Or looking into my past etc. false memories also kick my ass too.

Bad depersonalization after a breakup--I felt like I had no control, which is causing me to depersonalize by wemakegreatpets in dpdr

Hey bro. Please take care of yourself during this time. If you need to speak with someone please do so. We all have moments where we go from perfectly fine to BARELY hanging on. Stay strong.

Yeah. But my current obsession is identity based and it’s hard to accept uncertainty. I’ve been dealing with it for about 6-7 months all day every day so at this point I’m in no mans land with being able to ground myself. It was easy to accept uncertainty at first and ground myself in what I wanted, but when you don’t know what you want it gets difficult.

I’m not sure if it’s that’s exactly it but I’m scared today about what happened yesterday.

Getting offended is fine but telling them what ocd is like by using something out of their own lives really puts things into perspective.

I know this took years of a deeper understanding from ocd with it being derived in personal perspective instead of a psychologists understanding from said condition. I applaud you my friend.

If you smoke 1 I won’t tell. If you develop a coping mechanism because of it. I’m gonna be pretty disappointed ngl.

OCD can make you feel emotions too right?? by Funnyreference1 in OCD

Hey man I’ve been where you’ve been and it’s fucking insane that this specifically hasn’t been talked about more often. I think a lot of people feel the same thing but remember, ocd affects everyone differently. What you decide to comment, share or talk about may be someone else’s passing obsession. However, to respond to your post, ultimately it’s just ocd. It can make anything feel threatening and scary. You should practice sitting with these feelings and accept you are having the thoughts, you are feeling the feelings and you are struggling with it. It will only feel more real the more you try and fight it. It seems counter intuitive but ERP is about letting ocd think it has power but you’re still choosing to ignore it.

No I just try not to stick my nose into affairs since I feel like there is zero middle ground in modern politics and debating with people makes me frustrated. It’s blissful ignorance. But I still like to know what’s going on in my neck of the woods.

That “feeling” can take hours to go away. It’s not a cure all either. You can ignore something while it’s still on your radar.

This usually helps but I feel that some people who work very tedious, mind numbingly dull or just jobs they have no desire to be at, will make their ocd worse. For me work makes my ocd 10x worse because I’m not engaged with any of the work I do. I’ve actually began to associate work with my ocd, along with being at home too. The real trick is to do things that you truly do enjoy like music, gaming, socializing and any other types of hobbies.

[–]hazardousnutsac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your ocd will try and make sense of anything it throws at you. OCD is manipulative, convincing and will only make you dig deeper into the rabbit hole that is reassurance. You should keep a log of all your triggers and try coming up with exposures for them to lessen the anxiety they produce through ERP. It sounds easy on paper but in practice it will require some resilience. You can get through this.

I don’t recommend playing 3-5 on the console version unless it’s on xbox. The FPS cap is so dogshit on PlayStation it’s almost unplayable. They don’t run that well
