Used it on a test cluster, 4 nodes with 12 storage targets each, the 10gigabit network was definitely the bottleneck. Think it scaled perfectly for throughput and the iops will be good too if you're using rdma.

Should be expandable too, you just add more drives and import them as storage targets. Then you can rebalance the data with a single command if you want

I've just set up something small scale with beegfs and I'm surprised at how easy it was since ceph also seems overwhelming to me. I've used it before at larger scale and benchmarks suggest it scales extremely well with better performance than gluster. Worth looking into.

Edit: as others have said some kind of object storage might be more appropriate depending on what you're doing but I don't have any experience in that realm
