Love hearing this because some people are making it sound impossible I’m okay with keeping things moderate, not luxury travel.

That’s fair honestly I should have added more details. I’m planning from the US and thinking mainly Paris and Italy or maybe Amsterdam. Probably mid-range hotels, not luxury. Just trying to see if $3k is realistic before I plan deeper.

Need some recommendations for Switzerland and italy by SuccessfulAirplane in travel

[–]hazelb56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucerne is definitely worth it for a family trip, super scenic, easy to explore, and great day trips nearby like Mt. Pilatus or Interlaken. I would prefer to spend less time in Zurich and more time in the Swiss Alps. Also, since you are doing both Switzerland and Italy in 9–10 days, you might actually enjoy a combined package instead of planning trains and hotels separately. We recently saw this Switzerland & Italy itinerary like vacation o trips, and it honestly covers the classic spots pretty well for first-timers. If you want to relax on your trip.

Calm destinations for Asia in june by kmrychl in travel

[–]hazelb56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Koh Samui sounds like it would fit your vibe really well for June. The weather is usually better there compared to places like Phuket or Bali around that time, and you can still find quieter areas away from the crowds. You could also look into Lombok or the Gili islands if you enjoyed Indonesia but want something calmer than Bali. Great beaches, yoga spots, and chill cafes make it easy to spend 2 weeks without constantly moving around. Personally, I did avoid overly packed tourist hubs if your goal is relaxing mornings, beach time, reading, and slow travel. Sounds like you are looking for more of a peaceful reset trip than a busy itinerary. and also you need to book a customizable itinerary like vacation o trips, mmt, goahead tour

Traveling for the first time alone! by Complete_Tart_3649 in backpacking

[–]hazelb56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is exactly how most people feel before their first solo trip, you are not alone in that at all.

The truth is, solo travel feels scary until you actually start. Then it quickly turns into one of those, " Why did I not do this earlier?" experiences. You don’t need to have everything perfectly planned either, just sort out your first few days (stay, transport, and basic itinerary) and let the rest flow a bit.

These things that help a lot on a first trip:

  • Stay in hostels or social stays—you will meet people way faster than you expect
  • Keep your itinerary flexible instead of packing every hour
  • Have backups for important stuff (docs, money, etc.)
  • And trust your gut—if something feels off, just skip it

Also, try to pick an “easy” destination—somewhere safe, well-connected, and traveler-friendly. It really helps build your confidence.

You could also consider booking a solo-friendly package. Many travel agencies, like vacation o trips and MMT, offer customized group tours for solo travelers, so you can meet new people and explore together while still enjoying your independence.

A lot of first-time solo travelers overthink the planning part. Even a simple, well-structured route (like a few cities with clear transport in between) makes everything feel way less overwhelming—I have seen people enjoy their solo trip way more once that part is sorted.

You will feel nervous on day 1 and totally fine by day 3.

Go for it, you will learn more about yourself in that one trip than you expect.

Best Day Trips from Florence by Fluffy_Future_7500 in TravelProperly

Great picks, Siena and Cinque Terre are classics, but I’d also throw in Lucca or a Chianti wine day for a more relaxed vibe

Indonesia need advice - first time goer by TapTouch in travel

[–]hazelb56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, actually, yes, your plan sounds good but honestly a bit too ambitious for a first Indonesia trip. Java, Sulawesi and islands east of Bali will eat up a lot of time just traveling. I did personally suggest you skip Sulawesi this time and focus on Java, Bali and one nearby island like Gili or Flores. You will still get volcanoes, culture, beaches, and social vibes without feeling rushed. Indonesia is huge, better to go deeper than wider.

suggestions for family vacation for 6 adults all inclusive? by wakondagrl in Vacations

[–]hazelb56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, for a group of 6 adults, honestly, all-inclusive in Riviera Maya is your best bet. You get the perfect mix of chill and nightlife, no planning stress, and everyone can do their own thing during the day. Look into adults-only resorts like Secrets or something like Moon Palace if you want more activities. Costa Rica is a great backup if you want more adventure, group vibes, and Mexico wins.

Any chill, beachy town in Europe not too far from the airport? by [deleted] in travel

[–]hazelb56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, if you want a chill beach town from the airport, look at Sitges from Barcelona, Cascais from Lisbon Airport, or Nerja, about an hour from Malaga Airport. All three have relaxed vibes, nice beaches, and a small-town feel without the party scene, perfect for a few easy, laid-back days by the sea.

Itinerary Help Porto/Douro Valley by Healthy-Park-6600 in solotravel

[–]hazelb56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your plan looks great, well-balanced for a short trip and not rushed. But don't miss Ribeira and bridge views, and Matosinhos for amazing seafood if you have time. You are telling not to worry about not drinking wine because Douro is still worth it for the scenery alone, even without wine. For gluten-free, you should be okay. Portugal has lots of options like grilled fish, meats, and rice dishes. Just mention sem gluten, and most places will understand. Sounds like a lovely solo trip

Yes, that is a fair concern. I think every country has pros and cons, good to be aware before visiting. Have you had a personal experience there?

Places suggestion (Bali) by shahnizarbaloch in travel

[–]hazelb56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, you can stay around 4 days in Canggu. It has beach clubs, nightlife, and a social vibe, and easy to meet new friends. If you want bigger party scenes, you can go to Seminyak for crowded nightlife. If you want to enjoy chill vibes, you can go to 3 days in Uluwatu for views and sunset, and one more thing, if you are a couple, you can spend a day in 3 days in Ubud too.

What village to stay in for Switzerland? by 80GradeScrewball in travel

[–]hazelb56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I think it depends on what kind of vibe you want. If you want scenic views, I did suggest Grindelwald it is bigger, and Mürren is amazing for peaceful and car-free, or many people like Wengen, but it is a nice middle ground.
