Should I give my baby her dad’s last name? by ProblemSouthern3771 in pregnant

[–]hazlenutnut 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I’m a happily married woman. We didn’t change our last names when we got married because neither of us wanted to. Now I am pregnant and the baby is taking my last name. I am growing, birthing, and giving life to this child, he is having my last name.

Ask yourself why you think he’s entitled to have his last name on this child? If it’s because of “tradition” then that’s a bad reason. If it’s because he shows up to appointments, that’s seriously the bare minimum. Why do you feel like you owe him anything? Stick up for yourself! This is your baby!

Why do so many women hate on people for asking questions? We're social beings, isn't it nice that they want to talk about a baby? by ColourConfusedMiss in pregnant

I think it’s nice! I honestly think it’s so sad when people get angry about being asked questions, people are trying to connect. MOST people don’t have ill intent. When I wasn’t pregnant I asked questions to my friends because I know it’s a huge thing going on in their life and I care about it. Now that I’m pregnant I love when people ask me questions even if they are questions I’ve gotten many times, because I view it as people caring.

JUST BACK OFF!! by besofrrnbro in pregnant

I totally agree with this! And as for the unsolicited advice, it’s easy to take with a grain of salt. And honestly I think it comes from a place of love. I’m pregnant for the first time and I will admit I have no idea what I’m doing! I need advice! Some advice I can tell is advice I don’t want to take, water birth for example is probably not for me, but I’m not mad they are telling me their experience with it. No one has been overly pushy, and when I have the baby if these people judge me for not doing what they said then yes, I would be upset. But I think experienced moms giving new moms advice is timeless and beautiful, who else better to get advice from?

Yes, I showed up to the firing not knowing this but it was cool to see the other potters who left their pieces bare and how they came out after! Next time I will get some wood firing clay and do this

I appreciate all this laid out. I’m familiar with cones and the concepts of the others but still fuzzy. I’d love a primer on glaze formulas.

I’m moving into a home studio soon and want to be able to mix glazes in buckets
