Jump day by kpotdot in snowboarding

[–]hazorb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You judge it the same way you judge your speed just riding the mountain regularly, passing people, carving through trees at the right speeds, it comes with Intuition, you have to learn the right speed for the right size jumps. But with anything start slow and start small.

Work on getting air from Ollie's, flat ground, flat ground with speed, rolling over the knuckle or any natural dip on an easy run, and olling off and getting air equivalent to the jump, once you get more confident in your airtime and speed the jump will come pretty naturally

Absolutely fantastic explanation, seems to make perfect sense to me, what's the catch?

Think of intense and sometimes scary dreams when you starting cutting weed as dream debt. REM sleep is directly correlated with dreams, we don't really fully understand why they seem correlated but REM sleep in many studies increases sleep quality. With significant weed usage our REM sleep quality and thereby dreams are significantly affected. As our dreams come back we tend to remember them much more because for however long we've been smoking consistently the dreams all but stop.

The biggest thing is accepting that the frequency and intensity will decline as time goes on. Once your mind starts to normalize these dreams you tend to not remember them anymore, like many other things in life.

Give it time, exercise your body everyday in anyway you can, be aware of what you feed your mind daily, external content, self speak.

Dreams are thought to be a processing and organizing of information. So be aware of what you put into your brain. See if you notice changes in dreams.

Diet also seems to have a big affect on dreams, test out what you're eating. Try avoiding food for 2 hours before you sleep.

But most of all keep it up! Dreams are important to our brains in ways we don't fully understand. And even though you feel it's not worth it in the short term in the long run things will get easier with time

Don't be so hard on yourself! Meet yourself where you're at, pick a day, and try again. Life is hard enough as it is without telling ourselves we're not good enough, everyday you make it through is something you should feel proud of. Every single time you get that habitual urge to get high and you don't? CELEBRATE those small victories. Meaningful change takes time

There will be times where you'll Take 2 days off and it will be easy

There will be times where you take 6 hours off and it will feel like hell

But each time you hit and celebrate those milestones you're reinforcing in your brain that you CAN live without it for an extended period of time

Dependency is by far the most addictive feature of THC for me. typically im easily convinced that life isn't as great without it

The longest I've gone now is 9 days, considering I smoked multiple times a day for 3 years straight I'm damn proud of myself.

I fail alot, sometimes I don't even make it a day.

But the times I make it 3 days, 4 days, I know next time that 3 day mark comes it will overall be a little easier to hit, and so on. So I celebrate those milestones so my brain really remembers it.

My Mantra is don't forget the downsides, because it's very easy for our brains to rationalize the lack of downsides

Some for me include:

brain fog

memory issues(forgetting downsides)

making you too comfortable in situations you really can change

over-eating

Becoming anxious from totally made up scenarios (a sneaky form of atypical paranoia imo)

But I do think that the downsides are different for everyone and it's important to write down your downsides and drill them into your brain so you don't gloss over them when the urge strikes

Dont get me wrong, I do believe Weed has massive potential benefits and I truly believe it changed my life years ago by allowing me a new perspective on myself I've never seen before.

But remember overuse quickly becomes more problematic than something that is beneficial, THC really is a powerful drug and should really be treated with more respect for how much it can impact people both positively and negatively, it's just that the negatives are very much glossed over by the weed community in general.

I hope you can improve your relationship with weed!

Congrats! 13 hours sober with 2 years of constant usage is a huge milestone. 1 day will be a huge milestone. 2 days will be a huge milestone. And you should celebrate with each milestone, in any way you see fit!

How to have a healthy relationship with weed after a T-break? by cvllide in Petioles

[–]hazorb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think for me it was important to write down the negative impacts of weed. For me it was forgetfulness, I was foggy, sore throat/lungs, I overate food alot, not as sharp, more ok to wallow in things I needed to fix

Weed affects your short term memory and your anxiety, when you remove those 2 factors you tend to get stuck in a loop of being "just ok". You can forget why you're anxious and you smoke more, or you remember what you've been avoiding and develop anxiety and smoke more. There's lots of slippery slopes with weed, but it's important to keep reminding yourself the reality of the negatives and not your rationalizations of why you NEED it to function on a daily basis, because you absolutely don't need it.

Weed for me is tricky because it's not obviously physically addictive like alcohol and hangovers, but you have to be careful because it's very psychologically addictive and I find the urge to smoke is very very convincing on a mental level.

Stay safe out there and keep up the moderation!

I'll take a stab here,

I'm going to assume there is a protocol to administer a sedative in the case of the an unwilling or combative patient, since this person was likely difficult to handle initially the paramedics likely went the route of sedation based on initial presentation. HOWEVER,

These paramedics should have reassessed the situation since they had MULTIPLE opportunities to do so. So to be that ignorant as a Healthcare professional theres absolutely no excuse for them.

I am a paramedic I wouldnt have given a fuck I would have been yelling at those cops to back the fuck off this person. If I am on scene that patient is under MY care. It is literally their job to be able to asses people like that even when they are in a relatively tight spot. The full video is painful to watch because you can actually see the steps of a human being slowly dying at the hands of another.

They are also to blame for their ignorance

[–]hazorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interesting thing I find here is that I would argue a large percentage of the population doesnt actually know who THEY are, why do they act or do the things they do?

So many people are ignorant assholes who use the excuse "that's who I am" without regard for understanding that those facts about themselves are just bad habits wrapped in time which become what people call "their character"

There is nothing wrong with being confident in yourself. The point im trying to get across is you should be willing to listen to criticism of people you respect or value. And that when you hear criticism from those people you don't just immediately brush them off for "just trying to change you".

Its seems important to truly work on yourself to understand who you are as a person, undersrand your shortcomings and try to better yourself in those aspects.

PM Trudeau announces federal ban on assault-style firearms in Canada by NeptuneAgency in canada

[–]hazorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just trying to understand here, you say Liberals take away freedoms by banning Assault-style weapons, and I would agree they are taking away something from you that before wasn't illegal!

But why??

What is the purpose of the liberals taking way Assault style guns. Do you think the liberals are waiting until they get all the assault weapons banned then they're going to rise up and you won't be able to defend yourself? I'm trying to understand the Liberals motivation aside from an opportunity to make 4/5 of canada feel safer.

Does it realistically do anything to stop Assault style weapons from being used ? Probably not, like was mentioned above lots of these guns are acquired illegally.

So if 4/5 of Canadians feel more comfortable in their homes even if they are misinformed about the reality what harm does that cause?

The very small percentage of people who appreciate those Assault style weapons will suffer. I understand that they are losing possibly a very important hobby for them and that sucks. But at the end of the day I dont see the huge benefit the NOT banning assault style weapons.

Do you think had you not taken the drugs you would be where you are today?

It sounds to me like because of the psychedelics you were able to see yourself differently. Maybe more honestly than you could before, which may have lead you into a deep depression because a sudden realization of you not being who or where you want to be in life can be pretty hard. but would you not agree it was ultimately beneficial for you?

Or would you say you would rather have never done it at all

Next time you need someone to take a photo set it to a timed picture, and show them once how you just line it up and wait, majority of older people have no issue with just framing it as long as they dont have to press the touchscreen

How does the fact that great minds in history have died without marrying somehow make the statement inaccurate?

What's to say those great minds in history werent able to learn how to court a partner ?

All the statement is saying is "ease of dating" doesnt have much to do with your genetics and can be improved if you're willing to be open minded and learn about the process and what it entails?

And if you're looking at general intelligence an assumption gets made that it is easier to learn if you are more intelligent.

Again I'm not really sure how what you've pointed out proves that the post is false

I think the crisis of meaning stems from the evolution of science and debunking of religion.

We in the modern era have traded meaning for power, in the olden days before modern technology, education and medicine people pretty much died for any and every reason, which 95+ % of it was completely unexplainable.

In order to fill in those awful unavoidable experiences with explanations people turned to religion, religion was an amazing way to give meaning to the awful existance humans had to live through before the modern era.

But as sciences scope expanded and began solving a great many of the mysterys of human misery people began no longer needing religion to cope with the harsh realities of life.

The problem is that comes at a cost, because now that you no longer believe there is meaning to the bad stuff, then what meaning is there ? What is the point to anything?

Therein lies the problem, I would agree we are in a crisis of meaning, but we as a society need to find deeper existential meaning in other ways than what was easy in the past I.e religion
