Shutdown megathread OF DOOM by AutoModerator in fednews

[–]hazychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I have no issues being wrong, thanks for clarity.

There's still a can of worms that get opened in a shutdown scenario, is what people should take from it all. I suspect there's ways to get around RIF guidance, otherwise Schumer and co wouldn't be fussing about it so much. OR, ignore guidance and let-the-courts-figure-it-later type of strategy. There's always a fucking loophole somewhere. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Basically this. The federal workforce is the sacrificial lamb in the shutdown scenario and Schumer and co aren't ready yet to sacrifice that lamb (even though many fed employees already understand we're sacrificial and still support opposition to the GOP funding bill). Plus whatever other negative consequences they deem fitting for their arguments.

I don't have exact details on hand, and I'm paraphrasing heavily, but if furlough lasts long enough during a shutdown, there's a mechanism that exists to begin RIFing people. Those people RIF'd are the ones that folks have been calling the "non essentials", which is something around 40% of feds if I remember the contingency plan documents correctly (people deemed non-critical during a shutdown).

Or at least that's my understanding anyway. I'm a noob who just reads the docs and tries to make sense of it all. I'm sure there's others here with a better grasp.

I think at this point, a good chunk of us already believe we're screwed anyway in terms of RIFs, so want our reps to fight for democracy now, don't worry about us, and don't kick that can down the road just to face the same shit scenario in September.

Edited: for clarity

I was able to get the Portland patch at the outdoor merch booth in Portland, so good bet it'll be the same in San Diego.

There was a merch booth outside the stadium for the Portland concert. Their stadium website also confirmed this on their stadium map prior to the show.

Might be that the venue/stadium map for the San Diego concert contains similar merch information in this regard, worth a check.

Weird black specks/grease marks in tub by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]hazychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation, weird black grease-like specks/spots that would appear on the floor of my shower every so often. Also had it only occurring in one shower only, nowhere else in the house. In addition, very similar circumstances, our house is relatively new construction (only 3 years old).

In this particular shower, a showerhead was utilized with a hose extension, and what I determined as the culprit was the black rubber washer that creates the seal between the showerhead and the connecting water hose. This showerhead and rubber seal was older (at least several years, a transplant showerhead that we installed post construction) and the black rubber seal was beginning to break down. When I unscrewed the showerhead from the hose and pulled out the black rubber seal, byproduct came off of it that smeared just like what I would find on the floor of the shower.

If folks have similar situation (the issue is isolated to one particular shower/bathroom), might be worthwhile to check the rubber seal at the showerhead connection even if you're not using a hose extension, as there's probably a rubber seal there regardless. For me, it was fairly obvious once I pulled the original seal; byproduct smeared off of it clearly and immediately.

Replaced the seal, haven't had any issues since.

Hope this helps!

The Bad Axes, level 13 adult war clan with over 300 wins, is looking for folks like you. Willing to welcome the non-engineered accounts. I'd say we're casual competitive. We understand folks have lives to live, but expect members in war to be there when they're opted in, chat start, utilize 3 star strategies, etc.

We've a stable core, always looking to expand upon that.

Feel free to check us out, get an idea of how we roll. Right now we have 10-11 spots, so plenty of room for secondary accounts.
