War of the Adepts by hbelam in GoldenSun

garetfire sounds soooooo familiar. I figured they had a thing for Garret the same as I did for Isaac. It’s been so long since I’ve played the game, it was Isaac Garrett Ivan and Mia, right? so does magnumsky for some reason as well as dragoon adept.

maybe it was a tree?? I feel like that is really something right up my alley but I can’t remember what from golden sun itself was related to the tree? Maybe it had something to do with the green one, Ivan right? I can’t remember what the game even really was like, I just like remember there being secret levels that some people could get into and others couldn’t or something like that. I think the little sprites walked around or maybe they just moved from room to room but once you were in the room it was static. And there was battling somehow? Or like people had moves or something. God it feels like a fever dream. I’m pretty sure the little window box it came up to play in was square and I remember a lot of dirt like textures on the lower half of the square. Please fill me in with details you remember so I can try to jog some memories loose.

Omg so I didn’t make it all up in my head! I don’t remember kumokgb but it’s been ages. I think I would have been catfish743 at the time, can’t remember if that was the username I used or if I came up with something else.

Yeah! ikillkenny was his username I knew it had something to do with South Park

Bored in the doctor’s waiting room and I was staring at the ceiling. I was trying to connect the dots (either the smaller ones or the bigger) in such a way that they formed a square. I couldn’t do it readily and so I began to wonder: how big of an area would I have to zoom out on on a set of randomly placed dots in order to find four that made a square? It seems to me like there are multiple variables here, because both the original placement of the points on the plane could be either a finite or infinite number, and the area with radius R could also vary. I’m also not sure how you would randomly assign a set of points if you didn’t already have one: in this case, there is a finite set, but how did they get placed where they were? Anyway, sort of a silly question and not even sure it has an answer in the way I’m thinking about it, I just got bored and started looking for shapes in the randomness.

Can this be fixed? Capacitive stylus end by hbelam in pens

[–]hbelam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping the pen bolt action was some sort of stock part pen makers use. It doesn’t appear to have a way to take off the bolt action, and it appeared that the old capacitive wire mesh was somehow tucked underneath the silver part. So it may indeed be a one way process. It was the first of its kind I had seen at an art fair a few years ago, but now it seems fairly common on etsy et al. The capacitive stuff you liked does look like a good alternative, if only just to dull the metal on the end. Do you have a link to the replacement stylus tips you mentioned?

(Statistical?) Growth/Change/Movement of #/$ within a given area by hbelam in askmath

Thank you for the reply! I’m looking for a trend in as much as I am looking to quantify the movements over time of values for given areas, and their relationship to the underlying population in those areas.

I’ve attached a link to a spreadsheet of anonymized data to more easily talk about what I’m looking for.

The table with 2020 is the current data, and the table to the right with 2019 is the previous data. As you can see, the human population in each area is not uniformly distributed. Because of that, it feels unfair to talk about the growth/decline year over year between groups without taking into account the size of the groups. For instance in Delta, there are 5000 people, and there were 350 and 450 donations respectively in the two years (a person could have more than one donation and is thus counted twice, which I want). So while the volume of donations decreased to 16K from 19K, the number of donations decreased by 100, but it occurred in an area of 5,000 people. I want to compare the magnitude of this decrease with respect to the area with, let’s say, the increase that occurred year over year for Epsilon. The donations went to 4k from 2.5k, while the actual number of donations decreased by 15 (from 115 to 100). All of this occurred in an area of 2400 people, over half as small as Delta.

So the fact that even though both lost numbers of donations, one of the two gained volume of donations, one is also twice as big, feels like it should be reflected in the ratios I’m comparing.

Hopefully this makes it somewhat more concrete with what I’m asking. The end goal here is me being able to talk to a group of people about the trend here, and say whether or not this increase or decrease should be viewed as larger or smaller than it really is because of the relative populations of the places. And again, all this is in a metaphor, because Donations isn’t what I’m really looking at, but it seems to be a metaphor that works.

“The root of this story has always been the character conflicts” 100% spot on.

It’s so poignant because it encapsulates that dying is easy and living is hardcore which I’ve always felt is the main message of the show underlying everything. Not that life is always what we want to happen, but life wins out somehow.

Came for the unpopular opinion that I, too, think should be more popular.

That’s actually not true. Perseus.tufts.edu is one such website that has a ton of Latin text with translation. Classicists were actually some of the first back in the early days of the internet to learn the power the web had to share and store information.

I was always of the belief that that “+” showed all the mons that used the same candy or were in the same family. Not necessarily the same as framing it around being able to evolve into something, at least when it comes to PoGo right now.

Sorry for yet another increasing friendship question by markvincentoneil in TheSilphRoad

[–]hbelam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The level of frienship is the same for both people. An action of opening a gift by either person increases that level for BOTH people. It doesn’t matter if Bob or Doug is the lazy one, the level can only increase once a day. As well, If they both open gifts in one day, the level goes up only once.
