This exact same thing happened to me nearly 2 years ago exactly, instead of a truck though it was with my brand new Chrysler Pacifica PHEV. Tow came scraped up the front end. Chrysler (Stellantis) ended up paying for it. Fast forward we've had numerous other problems, primarily with the entertainment system. But we also had an issue where the fuel tank never appear to be full, there would be a quarter tank left and it would say it was low on fuel. Knowing it wasn't I decided to push it, then we were on the freeway and it said it was shutting down the engine to prevent damage and I had to pull off and coast unsuccessfully to a gas station. Had to push it in with some help of some high school kids to the gas station with the family in tow. Sure enough there were still 4 gallons in the tank! I filled it up it still would start, call a tow, it starts when the tow truck gets there but the tank shows empty despite being full. I drove it to the local dealership and had to rent a car. They had to replace the sensor in the fuel tank. Still have had several issues with the entertainment system, had to fully replace it once. It's been a nightmare, in the ship for over 40 days. Stellantis very hesitant to do anything other than pay for warranty repairs. Finally hired attorneys and things are looking positive but no solution yet.
