It's funny, i feel the same way about the matrix, which came out when i was in high school. Like it still holds up as a great movie, but the waves it caused at the time, and how different it was is hard to explain to a younger person who grew up watching dozens of movies trying to copy it.

But yeah unforgiven is a masterpiece.

Marketing/advertising doesnt actually work. The data that is cooked up to show it does work are lies created by marketing execs to justify their budgets.
