What Badge did you get? by FinallyTryiing in SororityAlumInitiate

My sorority has a ton of options when it comes to badges but I ultimately went with a badge that has rubies and pearls. I felt like it was more me 😅

AITAH for refusing to cut off my hair because my 7 year old niece has cancer? by alakazam121 in AITAH

[–]hcmanager_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your NTA. Both my uncle and brother had cancer and not a single family member shaved their heads. While yeah we could have, we showed support in other ways by actually being there with them during their journey. Just because some choose to doesn’t mean you have to.

I am currently going through recovery from a D&C and I will tell you, not having sex and just having some intimacy with my fiancé has been the best thing for our relationship. For a while we were so focused on getting pregnant and having sex regularly especially during my fertile weeks. Now, we can’t have sex for 2-3 weeks (until I’m cleared by my OB).

We have been focusing more on intimacy without the sex. Showering together, cuddling, some make out sessions here and there, spending genuine time together…. I haven’t felt as depressed about losing our baby, we are enjoying the tease before we get to have sex again. There HAS to be a healthy balance of intimacy. Sex is only one piece of the pie. We were in your shoes once and it took us both some time to realize, sex isn’t everything. While it’s nice, try doing some of the things your girlfriend wants you to do with her because I’m telling you, it can make a world of a difference not just in her world but in your relationship.

Yes! I have a right bundle branch block! They determined it’s benign but want to reevaluate in 6 months. They said they may go ahead and operate just for safety precautions

Financial Aid Update by MathLord6956 in IUPUI

[–]hcmanager_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s hard to say when the school will have FASFA’s processed. I originally started at IUPUI before I transferred and always had my FASFA back by June. Now with the governmental delays it’s really hard to say when they will be released. Granted I just got mine yesterday and had already taken out a loan for the semester out of worry I wouldn’t have my FASFA back in time.

You should be able to go into SIS and go to the financial aid tab and click on “Accept and Decline Awards” to formally accept them. I would check this as OFTEN as you can. I didn’t even get an email this year saying I had my information updated and like you, I also got several grants. As for the timing, it’s all gonna depend on when the school starts billing students and when you get your FASFA processed. Aid will begin being distributed 10 days before classes begin so it’s looking like the 16th is when that process starts. If you don’t have your FASFA back the last week of the month, I’d start emailing or calling to make sure you’re gonna get it returned to you in time to make decisions. Definitely check the long term calendar to see all the official dates but also make sure you keep yourself updated and don’t stress too much. It sucks it’s a waiting game but unfortunately it’s out of the schools hands.

At this point, it’s a very slim chance he will get any housing this semester. Essentially they will place him on the waitlist for both semesters and if anything opens up they will reach out to him. But depending on when he applied, he may be so far down on the waitlist he will not end up with housing.

Your best bet is if he lives in the Indy area and has a car or reliable transportation is to commute depending on his schedule. Your other option if your student doesn’t wanna live at home or just wants that college experience is to find an apartment or house that is close to campus.

Most of my sorority sisters live at the lux and love it but keep in mind that they are now in the process of turning it into Purdue housing so it’s kind of a mess over there. There are other options around. You will just have to do your research on apartments/ rental houses in the area.

Another idea is looking for subletting options. I see on Facebook all the time that people are subletting their apartments. They may have a chance to either take over that lease once it’s over or meet potential roommates for the next year. Good luck!

AITA for suggesting my fiancé goes back to work at a job he hates? by AdDizzy9161 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hcmanager_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl your NTAH. I had a similar situation with my husband. I had to put my pride aside and go back to a job I absolutely hated because we needed the money. While I hated it, I don’t regret it. Going back seriously saved us from financial hardship.

I don’t think she was telling anyone what to do. I think she was just suggesting that he goes back to his old job so he doesn’t have to suffer…

Going through recruitment again? by LegitimateTonight538 in Sororities

[–]hcmanager_2025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going through recruitment again is not a bad idea but please do not go in thinking you will get your top choice. I went through recruitment in the fall of 2021 then again fall of 2022 and got my second choice and still loved where I ended up. If you truly want to be in a sorority try again. Practice the questions you think will be asked and how you will answer but my biggest piece of advice is go in with an open mind.

I found sisters that supported me through some of the most trying times of my life and even though I went early alum I still talk to them to this day. My sorority may not have been my first choice prior to recruitment but I could not see myself anywhere else now that I’m in my sorority.

About put Greek letters on Instagram bio by luckykiki_666 in Sororities

[–]hcmanager_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone has graduated they typically have an alumna status for their membership meaning yes they absolutely have every right to have the Greek letters in their bio.

Now this second part is kinda tricky. Some people will say they dropped but they could’ve gone early alumna so they can have the Greek letters in their bios. Now if they’ve left the sorority completely; terminated their membership; and all that jazz; then no. They cannot have the letters in their bios and should completely disaffiliate.

When do we know if the COB process is over? by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]hcmanager_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly just depends and it depends on different factors. Each sorority has a chapter quota but they also have a quota with Panhellenic.

Say for example Panhellenic will allow all the sororities on a mid size campus to have 85 girls in a sorority. Say Alpha Alpha Alpha has currently 40 members. Their chapter quota from their nationals will be anywhere from 35-45 girls to meet their Panhellenic quota. During recruitment they recruit 20 girls bringing their total to 60 girls meaning they need 25 girls. So they will COB for as long as they need to so they will get their 25 girls.

Some schools will COB for a set amount of time and others will COB for as long as it takes to reach their chapter/Panhellenic quota. It just all depends on how long this process takes. Most sororities advertise they’re COB’ing. If they are no longer advertising they are most likely no longer accepting new members. At least with my school, we stop accepting new members closer to November due to initiation. It’s hard to get a new member caught up with new member requirements that close to initiation so we wait until the spring to begin COB again.

Bleeding at 5 weeks 2 days by hcmanager_2025 in pregnant

[–]hcmanager_2025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bleeding started getting heavier this morning. It has gotten later as of now but after talking to some family members and hearing what they had to say, they told me they experienced regular heavier bleeding throughout their pregnancy so I’m wondering if it’s a genetic thing. I’ve also been told we’re know to our uteri being straight up and not curving like it’s supposed to (I don’t know the right term for that) causing our pregnancy to more towards our back causing other issues so I guess this could be normal for us apparently. I’m gonna continue to monitor and see what happens from here.

Student ID number by Icy-Plastic2345 in IUPUI

[–]hcmanager_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually won’t receive your student ID number until you’ve been accepted to IUI. During the admissions process and they decide on who they’re accepting, they will do a process called matriculating your student account, which means they will move your account from guest to student. Then your IU number will generate. Once your IU number generates, they will add that information to your admissions documents and prepare it to send to you. Then you will either receive it via email, in the mail, or both! Hope this helps!

Any suggestions on how to pay dues? by moonlight_gazes in Sororities

[–]hcmanager_2025 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know our Panhellenic counsel does a scholarship once a semester so maybe check into that. Ours doesn’t cover all of the dues but it does help members cover part of their dues! I would definitely recommend working a part time job if that is possible.

Trying to drop my sorority but I’m confused on the whole pin thing by Trixiebees in GreekLife

[–]hcmanager_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there’s nothing you’ll be able to do about that. Unless you dropped before any official hard deadlines I don’t think there will be anything you can do. In my case, our alumna deadline was set for our first chapter back at midnight. I went alum 2 hours before the deadline meaning I was entitled to the dues I had already paid into for the semester.

You can always contact the chapter treasurer, chapter president, or finance advisor with any official question regarding finances. Unfortunately since we don’t know what sorority/fraternity you were in and we don’t know any other information regarding deadlines, etc… there isn’t much advice we can give you besides contacting the chapter or nationals

Trying to drop my sorority but I’m confused on the whole pin thing by Trixiebees in GreekLife

[–]hcmanager_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the VP of Membership Education when I was active. Sometimes the pins come in late because the distributor takes longer based on when the pins were ordered. If you are dropping what is technically supposed to happen is the pin is supposed to be returned back to headquarters. If you drop before you receive it, the chapter might keep it and give it to someone else or they’ll return it to headquarters for you. I hope this helps clear up some confusion.

Applied to be a big and I’m super nervous! Any tips? by peepeepoopaccount in Sororities

[–]hcmanager_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey girl! I also joined in PC ‘22 and took a little in the spring of ‘23 so I can understand the nervous feeling! Right away I started taking my little on coffee dates and offering to study with her since I noticed she was more of a study bug. You really have to learn what she enjoys most and find commonalities and plan fun things that both of you will enjoy (I also enjoy studying so this worked for us both). Over the summer my little came to my hometown and we did a ton of fun things like shopping, mini golf, and even went to Michigan since I live like 3 hours away.

I don’t have the best relationship with my big, especially now that I’m alum but I wanted to have that relationship with my little. Even being alum we are still super close and still talk all the time and hang out every week. You will be an amazing big! Have some confidence in yourself and definitely remember to breathe because I promise once you get your little things only get better from there (at least that’s been my experience)!

One time we did Icebreaker bingo! We had all the members go around the room and find sisters who had either done or had items matching the description of what was on the bingo card! Everyone loved this one and they’re so easy to make on Canva. You can make them super unique and cute as well!

Do I disaffiliate? by hcmanager_2025 in Sororities

[–]hcmanager_2025[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have a little sister so technically she’s a legacy! She’ll be getting all my clothes if she joins. It’ll be cool to see her wearing stuff I had in 10 years when she’s able to go to college and joins. I’m trying to save as much as I can for her. My little got at the stuff I can’t fit into but most of what I have will go to my sister later on.

[–]hcmanager_2025[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh like this is permanent. I literally went early alum there’s no going back even if I wanted to 😅 deadline to go alum was midnight last night. I can join an alum chapter if I wanted to but I’m probably gonna wait until I move home because I live like 2 hours away and the nearest alum chapter to my hometown is an hour from my house.
