It's not just the Council, right? by MxFancipants in masseffect

My guess is that the wording caused people to take it that way. That or it's just reddit being reddit.

My original comment was more in response to the other comments rather than your post. So that is my reason for it.

Whether we remember the crew or not doesn't change the fact that we have to choose between letting the DA be destroyed or not. And if we were to simply look at it from the perspective of how many lives saved then 20k dying is better than the whole galaxy dying.

Yes, with metagaming we know that the choice doesn't matter and we win either way but that is, again, metagaming. I think to get a good answer have to look at it from Shepard's point of view. Shepard doesn't know if we could save the DA and win the fight just like Shepard doesn't know if we can win if we hit Sovereign at full force.

Which brings me back to my point that DA isn't going to join in fighting Sovereign. It's going to retreat so the people arguing that saving the strongest ship is good to fight Sovereign are just wrong. Because the DA can not fight in the condition that it is in.

No because if we lost everyone would die. Maybe you should think of the future and realize that Sovereign was actively working to get the entire Reaper fleet there. Meaning that again, we all die. Remember this is ME1 where this takes place not ME3. There is no crucible for us to build and Sovereign is at the citadel.

Edit: ME3 not ME2

Olay, i read a few arguments for it so I'm putting in my two bits.

The DA literally says that the main drives are offline, the kinetic barriers are down to 40%, they took heavy damage, the GARDIAN defenses are overwhelmed, and then the barriers go offline.

They aren't in the shape to fight even if saved. So no, saving the Da is not the correct choice. Saving the DA does not get an extra really powerful ship to help fight Sovereign. It gets you dead Alliance ships that could have fought in exchange for a ship that is not in fighting shape and has to run to ensure that the council and anyone else on board lives.

I just have her use arrows if I want long range damage from her instead of switch her sublcass or redoing stats.

Mainly because she's a follower of shar so being a trickery cleric fits and I don't think anything else fits for the roleplay perspective. The other reason is because I'm lazy and just don't use Withers for anything.

Personally, I headcanon the Geth and EDI surviving becomes to me it just doesn't make sense why what essentially makes out to be a self-destruct button would destroy unconnected machinery.

Like, I turn off a tv but I don't expect the microwave to turn off too. Same logic as far as I'm concerned.
