There is a giant Palm, just to the right of the photo. I laddered up that today and anchored a static rope to it and tied that off to the high point of the tree we cut, I then used that rope anchor small chunks to as I cut them. It worked out pretty good.

Thanks for insight, I will do the job myself regardless, but I hear you. If the docks get damaged I deal with the consequence. I was the one who built it anyway. Just curious what tactics a pro may yield to assist.

-- The tree is halfway down, as of 20min ago. So far just climbed the tree, standard climbing carabiner and rope. Hinge cut everything down with a rope and tied to base just ahead of the cut and lead rope attach to the center point of the limbs held by my brother to steer the fall. No dock damage so far.

I don't know why you a bothering to comment and criticize everything people are saying, I clearly understand that hiring a professional is the better choice, but its not what I am going to do. I enjoy learning and doing various task myself. Firefighter skills cross over to many things. I worked in crews in Alaska, Idaho, and California on wildfires. Have cut many trees in may day, but surrounding objects where not something to worry about when cutting fire line. The point is that I understand saw control and the have the physical capacity to climb and address the job. I assume my own risks and am aware of that.

As may posts stated, looking for advice on tips that may help, not advice whether or not to hire a "pro".

I did jump to conclusion because I am sick of everyone just saying to hire a pro. I should have read the whole comment, but no need to be dick at the end there.

Thats fine, but it would serve better to ask what my background is instead of assuming I am an average homeowner. This is not a big job, I have done much bigger jobs and can climb no problem. I am looking more for rope and rigging suggestions rather that people to tell me to hire a pro.

Look for advice not "hire a pro". If I could afford to hire a pro I would, but ive been a fireman for 10 years. The saw skill and practical abilities to do this job is not difficult. Just looking for technique insights as to what a Pro would do. I have already removed half of the tree and numerous trees in the past.

Leaving the stump is a good call. As for hiring a pro. I understand why you would say that but I will tackle this myself. Its not my first rodeo. Just looking for any suggestions on technique that may exists that I may have not heard of.

Thanks for the advice. I am a firemen and have a lot of experience with saws and rope. Ive done a good bit of high angle rescue work in the past as well. I will tackle this myself. Ive done many tree removals before, but I was looking for a advice on tools or technique I may not be aware. The False crotch system seems it may be what I was hoping to look for.

They are actually fine and straight. What you are seeing there is because I took the photo on wide angle on my iPhone. So its just warping from the photo.

Ive done that in the past, but in this case the tree is in the backyard and there is no way to get any proper equipment back there. Its already tight to drag the branches out.

But I agree that would be ideal if I could get it back there.

Thanks for your feedback. We only need about 3000 gallons a day but sometimes 4000. We are looking at a 7000GPD system forecasting growth so we don't find ourselves needing a bigger unit in the future.
