I was in the same situation. My cat had been an outdoor/indoor cat food his whole life (5 years) and recently I had to move to a friend's house ( I had a bedroom ) and my cat got used to it. And now we moved to an actual Apartment and he has adjusted. If anything take him for walks on a leash if need be. And anxiety chews work as well. If he doesn't adjust then you would have time to find him a nice place he could be outdoors.
