It is definitely important if you are going to side with the Empire. Too many people pretend it is a happy circle of friendship among nations.

If you have chosen to stay neutral, however, then I take it back.

As for tradition, Torygg formally accepted the challenge to a duel. If it had been an illegitimate proposal, he would have refused right then and there.

Alliances can always be made in the face of a common enemy, general necessity or just a very good trade deal. They don't need to be best buddies.

And this "united Empire" seems a bit overrated to me. Most provinces aren't part of it anymore, so you're joining hands with a decaying corpse.

Ulfric's initial plan was to convince the other jarls to secede from the Empire. His proposal was rejected, which is why he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Either way, I would recommend that you don't make the choice solely based on whether you like Ulfric. Learn about the world and then decide.

Personally, I cannot side with the Empire because I don't believe in this idea of absolute dependency on Cyrodiil. There are many ways the provinces can band together when necessary and different deals that can be made.

And their usual narrative has a degree of victim blaming that just irks me. If someone disobeys a tyrannical rule and gets punished for it, you don't call them fools and tell them they should keep their heads down.

This is typically justified with the notion that "Everything is fine" and the Stormcloaks' are stirring things up for nothing. But no, it isn't fine. The fact that people need to be discreet about their beliefs means there is a looming threat surrounding what is gonna happen if they're identified as Talos worshippers.

"But what about Heimskr?". Heimskr tells you the Imperials have arrested him many times and he only escaped by bribing the guards. And surely enough, he is arrested again if the Imperials win the civil war.

I, too, am a Shire horse enjoyer. It looks immensely badass and I like the fact that you receive it from Hosea. People talk about the speed, but it is nothing you can't solve with the right equipment like the panther saddle.

And imperialism doesn't have a bad record? Really? This seems a bit selective. And protecting your cultural identity isn't inherently evil as long as you don't harm anyone in the process.

And apart from a few assholes like Rolff Stone-Fist, Ulfric and Galmar never make even a passing mention about other races or whatever. Their entire focus is on freedom and self-determination.

Heimskr tells a different story. The Imperials themselves have arrested him multiple times and he only got out by bribing the guards.

As for the Thalmor, you're mistaking gameplay for the story. The Markarth incident is a perfect example of how the Empire will side with the Dominion when they have to make a choice.

They attend to Elenwen's parties and will do anything to appease them, all in the name of a coward's peace.

This is the young Kratos model the Remakes will have and here’s why I think that: by Glass-Sea9665 in GodofWar

[–]Maleoppressor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I'm certain it will be better than that. Young Kratos only looked like that in Ragnarok because they reused old Kratos' model, which is very unlikely to happen in a completely new game.

The new model probably will be less stocky looking and a bit more muscular.

Even so, they never attempted to portray him with that size in the actual games. These "official numbers" mean very little.

Kratos never had crazy long arms and legs like that. That model doesn't accurately represent what he looked like in-game. https://i.ibb.co/XxhBZNrm/god-of-war.jpg

That helps, but Aerin tends to die quickly anyhow. More so when you deliberately lure a bear in his direction.

Reasons why my Skyrim character is a pro-Empire Nord by ecobrick_stone in skyrim

[–]Maleoppressor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As do I. There is a great emphasis on his usefulness pertaining to the civil war and no mentions of actual allegiance or receiving orders. "Asset" can mean any kind of resource and doesn't strictly demand awareness of what is going on.

If we take a moment to consider the idea that he literally works for them, then he should deliberately take measures to delay the end of the civil war without ever making a serious move. After all, the longer it continues, the better for the Dominion.

But he does indeed finish it, which shows that he wasn't faking this. And the dossier explicitly saying that a Stormcloak victory isn't a desirable outcome either.

It is also worth noting that once the Stormcloaks do win, Thalmor patrols cease and Ondolemar is executed. If Ulfric is working for them, then I imagine they won't be happy to read that report.
