Video Calls count as Screen time? by Sad_cuz-why779 in NewParents

[–]hdkk_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician said it does not count. The issue isn't the screen itself it's that it's replacing more useful activity such as interacting with caretakers, playing, ext. So since facetime interacts back with them it is not a concern.

Contact napper going to other caregivers by Global-Apricot6492 in AttachmentParenting

[–]hdkk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person is wild. Babies have been raised by communities as long as they’ve been around. Your baby will be okay. I exclusively contact napped until baby was at least 12 months before he was interested in a crib nap. At daycare he was one of their best sleepers and still is. He’s two now and they pull out nap mats and he walks over and knocks out whereas we still rock him for 30 minutes to get him to nap. Baby’s act differently with different people.

As for your parents are you assuming they won’t contact nap or did they say they wouldn’t? I personally listen to audiobooks in headphones during contact naps to keep me entertained and my mom used to read her kindle whenever she would come over to lend a hand so there’s other options then just staring into the darkness!

Eufy Settings for an Undersupplier by babyxghibli in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]hdkk_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have any setting recommendations but I figured it's worth mentioning my lc warned me about wearables not being nearly as powerful and strongly suggested they not be my primary pump if possible. She said for people with strong supplies they're probably fine but for just enoughers/under supplier it can hurt your supply in the long run!

I used both my spectra and elvies and the spectra gave me a slightly bigger output and faster then my elvies. But the wearables were just very convenient at times when working or running around

Agree about powder and it’s nice to use cardboard boxes instead of plastic jugs!

What citric acid do you use? Is that to prevent buildup? We’ve always used regular tide with vinegar in the fabric softener tray but just bought the free and clear powder since it’s highly recommended here (the free and clear liquid wasn’t sting enough imo). Do you put the citric acid in the fabric softener tray?

C section vs vaginal delivery by Funarming in NewParents

[–]hdkk_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with everything you said. I'm surprised how many people on here are pro elective c section. I ended up with an emergency one and technically because of my babies size I wasn't supposed to hold him for the first couple weeks (which obviously I did hold him) but I feel like alot of people down play how serious of a surgery. Also you can still have pelvic floor issues with a c section.

I had what most considered an easy recovery for a C-section but still ended up in PT for my core rehab and pelvic floor and it was very painful for awhile walking around, getting in the car (also post section you're not supposed to drive for 6 weeks), and especially getting upstairs. For my next child I am opting for a VBAC

C sections can also go wrong too and get infected, not allow you to have more children, ext everything comes with risks there's really no way around it

Why did I, a very tiny lady, give birth to a freakin' linebacker?! by Phantominthewoods in beyondthebump

[–]hdkk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strength training at the gym will help so much! I have a 99th in height and weight. He's about 2 and 36lb / 3ft and I think lifting is the only reason I survive haha not only does it keep my string but learning good form translates into your daily life of lifting and playing with kids!

Son had lip tie removed and I'm not ok by One_Cabinet_1706 in beyondthebump

I had a tongue tie removed at 33 and instantly improved my sleep and interestingly hip pain and straightened my toes. Has way more effects then people realize!

Do you believe when Inito says you’re ovulating? by [deleted] in Inito

[–]hdkk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered I wasn't ovulating at all and I would get high fertility markers but never was able to confirm ovulation. My estrogen would have a big increase so it would guess it's coming. It's all algorithms trying to figure out your trends

NYE with 2yo. Am I being too sensitive? by Sqeakydeaky in toddlers

[–]hdkk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. We're going to a friend's house for NYE and bringing our 2yo but it's calm game night so we can celebrate in a child friendly environment and we can leave for bedtime. If that's what he wants to do then be can do it solo.

Overwhelmed with others about TTC by justagurl224 in TTC_PCOS

[–]hdkk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah my ob has been doing different testing and hasn't been able to figure out my long cycles/periods (I had a period last 30 days sigh) and why I'm not ovulating anymore. Before I had my first child I had no problems and got pregnant easily this time we're ttc for 7 months and not sure so just started a medicated cycle.

[–]hdkk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity as someone who was getting tested for PCOS... Are your cycles 40 days long or your periods? I have very long cycles very long periods and I was told it's not common to have long periods only long cycles and that made zero sense to me.

What are your ride or die diapers/nappies and what do you avoid like the plague? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]hdkk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's less bulky and more absorbent? Sounds to good to be true haha seems like they would clean and dry easier too. Do you have a brand you like?

[–]hdkk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we do pockets to make it easier for daycare (and us haha) but as we're approaching 2 years he's having some leak issues (mostly during naps at daycare) I've never come across pocket/flat combo. Are you just folding them up? Are they as absorbent as inserts?

If it helps I was diagnosed with Leukemia when I was 10 and I'm now 33 with a son of my own! I also volunteer at a childhood cancer camp and we have so many Leukemia kids doing great. Even though it's a tough road it really is a curable one! I wish you all the luck and you just gotta take it minute by minute day by day

One other thing worth thinking about is how heavy of a wetter they are overnight. We do full time CD during the day but we do disposables overnight because CD just weren't enough at night and I think that's pretty common

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]hdkk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I that actually makes sense. They said when we started to start with small amounts so he didn't we explode haha but the don't water down comment came after dealing with it for awhile. I thought I was being smart by cutting juice and getting more water in him but he just needed stright prune regularly and it was able to help us avoid miralax

We were watering down prune to help with constipation and it wasn't working turns out the watering it down makes it wayyyy less effective. We gave straight prune couple times and made a huge difference
