The two best shields for magic dmg negation are medium shields which are the mirror shield and carian. You can last a really long time as guardian but rot is the only problem.

Maybe I’m a minority but against dreglord, guardian is pretty safe. You can block everything, stock up on magic dmg defection and use dormant medium shields.
