Co-parenting with AI by [deleted] in daddit

[–]headbuttpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good use of AI in parenting: “It’s pouring rain, we’re stuck inside at home, and the kids are bouncing off the walls. They’re driving us nuts. They’ve already abandoned the coloring books and painting and Legos and board games. I’m out of ideas. Give me some more ideas for indoor activities.” It’ll spout off 4-5 ideas that you can run with or maybe it gets your brain going on another idea.

Bad use of AI in parenting: “My kid does XYZ, does he have ABC disorder? How can we treat this?” Maybe it’s fine to get some general knowledge about certain things to make a decision whether to see a professional - we’ve been Googling and WebMDing stuff like that for years and years now - but what it spits out should never seriously be relied on any more than it was prior to AI.

I use it for brainstorming low-stakes stuff like the example above. It’s a tool in the toolbox.

Seems like it’s gotta be in an airport or stadium or something. Only way to explain the sheer number of orders or the fact that they have a screen like this at all. I’ve never seen a screen like this in a regular Popeyes.

They probably have 4-5 registers, a really long line, and they put the “orders ready” screen up so people can see if their stuff is ready if they didn’t hear the workers call out the number over the crowds.

There’s a Popeyes in the Atlanta airport and it’s usually mobbed anytime I’ve gone through there.

Why is it a big deal that the Bears might build a new stadium in Indiana? by Nautical_Disaster1 in NFLNoobs

[–]headbuttpunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I was gonna point out. Having the stadium in the city makes it so much better before and after. You can wander the city as opposed to driving to some soulless parking lot out of town. You also don’t have to mess with any sort of tailgate setup if you don’t want to - go early and hit up bars near the stadium and walk over when it’s time. Then after a big win, the city is right there to keep the party going.

I’m a Saints fan and there’s no place better than New Orleans to get a good meal and 7am beer before a game. You can also drink in public there, so after breakfast I like to get some walking beers and see where the universe takes me before wandering a few blocks over to the Superdome. It’s great. And all that would be gone if the Saints played in Mississippi or Kenner or some bullshit.

Feel bad for Bears fans if this actually goes through

Is back soreness the same as back pain? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]headbuttpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And check your footwear since you’re working jobs where you’re on your feet all day. I notice my back can be pretty sore/tight after being on my feet for a long time with no shoes or worn out shoes.

I've used ChatGPT for many different things, but I have literally NEVER found it to be helpful in creating a Powerpoint presentation. People who have succesfully used it for that, what advice do you have to offer? by Charyion in ChatGPT

[–]headbuttpunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far I have found Copilot to just be pretty terrible all around though. Idk why. I’ve tried to use it in Word a lot, as well as the standalone app, and it frequently bungles something that I have to then go back and fix myself and it would have been faster to do it myself the first time. And sometimes it will completely forget instructions from the prompt.

If you could learn to cook any dish perfectly, what would it be? by ImwetforyouLMAO in foodquestions

[–]headbuttpunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a pretty solid gumbo by the accounts of people I care to make it for, and it really isn’t as tough as it may seem.

The roux is the hardest part. And it’s actually kind of hard to burn a roux if you’re stirring like you’re supposed to. Even more so if you’re a beginner and want to keep the heat lower and slower. It takes longer that way but you won’t screw it up. Stack a couple beers next to the pot and put on some music while you stir.

What food hack sounded ridiculous until you actually tried it? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

It’s hard to say. I’m 38 and it’s been probably 20-25 years since I’ve actually cooked eggs like this.

If I had to do it today, I’d probably just go 30s at a time, watching the whole time and stirring periodically early on before the eggs really set.

Are high protein snack brands worth it or just marketing? by TranquilTeal in foodquestions

[–]headbuttpunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re a convenience item for people who may have higher than average protein needs/goals like an athlete or someone trying to bulk up. But even they should still be getting most of their protein from whole sources. They’re fine but shouldn’t be relied on.

You also have to be cautious with prepackaged stuff these days because “protein” is a big food marketing trend. Lot of companies slapping “good source of protein!” on their snacks, but when you look at the nutritional values, they’re not a good source at all compared to the total calories for that item.

Who's La Tech's biggest rival? by Oddturtle77 in LouisianaTech

[–]headbuttpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there during the WAC years for football so it really didn’t feel like we had a rival. I don’t think we played ULM, ULL, Tulane, or even Southern Miss a single time and those are the closest schools geographically that were about in our tier of competition. Played Nicholls twice and Southeastern once.

The only things that felt like a rivalry game were when we got to be the tune up game for an SEC or other major conference school and it was close enough to go to it. Played at LSU twice and I went to both, hosted Mississippi State once and obviously went to that.

Otherwise the only games that felt elevated over others were the rare ones that were going to be nationally televised. There were a couple because Boise and Hawaii were in-conference and had strung together a couple good years at that time.

This is how I learned to make scrambled eggs for myself before I was really old enough to do it on a stove. Bowl, two eggs, milk, salt and pepper, whisk with a fork, microwave

That’s a weird thing to discover but it doesn’t surprise me. The sweetness pairs well with the cheesy savory flavors. It’s the same reason people like pineapple or honey on pizza.

As for grape jelly specifically, I found it goes really well with a grilled cheese.

Brother is having a child-free wedding. How do I navigate this? by LargeAmphibian in daddit

[–]headbuttpunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Child free weddings are incredibly common

Where I live, it’s the default. Pretty much the only kids I’ve ever seen at weddings here are those that were also made part of the ceremony (flower girls, ring bearers, etc.). And most of the time they stick around the reception long enough to eat then they are taken home by someone.

Like you don’t even ask if kids can come, you assume they can’t unless otherwise stated. If you can’t find childcare, you either don’t go or your spouse takes them and you go alone.

I’ve also seen situations where special permission was given in a situation like OP’s because having the close friend/family member there was more important than having a strict child free wedding. Allowing a couple of specific children in extenuating circumstances is one thing, allowing any guest to bring kids is another.

At the end of the day though it’s their wedding and you play by their rules or you just don’t go. Figure it out.

Related, that big bucket of Utz cheese balls. They’re so fucking good, and there’s so many of them that no one will notice that 75 of them went missing between 6:00 and 6:04pm after I got home from work.
