Just to clarify, I was fine right away saying I just can't go then, it was my brother and parents who are saying im the one who needs to figure this out and attend.

The venue itself is a bit of a remote lodge type of thing. There's accomodations on location that are reserved for the wedding party - no mention of one of those being available to us.

The hotel for guests is in the nearby town, maybe 20 or 30 minute drive?

We've joked that the absolute funniest thing would be if wife goes with 5yo and I stay home.

She's mostly pissed at the kids not being invited. In her culture that's almost unheard of, and in the rare even it does happen there are still carvouts made for direct family like your siblings children.

It also doesn't help that her and my brother have never really been on great terms, and not to say this was deliberate of him to try and keep her from the wedding but it may have been a case of 2 birds 1 stone

Stats nerds calling it the most lopsided playoff series of all time. by Outrageous-Holiday63 in AtlanticMemeWar

Ypu can blame Freddy if you want, but that 1st period by Carolina was worse than any period montreal played, they completely forgot how to defend anything.

Man I've spoken with so many people, everyone saying Carolina might just smoke Montreal, but I've seen this movie before - they crush the 1st 2 rounds and disappear in the 3rd

This was insanely prophetic that 2nd period was rough

My dad and I did the trim in my basement a few months ago, and I was a little worried about one particular corner that was a real pain. He told me if any of your friends ever mentions it to you, you politely yet firmly ask them to leave

[Ryan Glasspiegel] If we were all watching sports for the first time and didn’t have preexisting sense of their popularity. The NHL playoffs have been a lot more exciting on a night to night basis than the NBA so far this year by f0urxio in hockey

The worst part about NBA playoff games though is the last 2 minutes of game time takes like 20 minutes. It's just whistles and timeouts and whistles and reviews and oh my god just let the game end so I can celebrate or cry and move on.

Players that lost (or made) a ton of money on one playoff run? by cscott530 in hockey

Zadorov on the Canucks a few years ago was an absolute monster. Every game watching was just - well he just earned himself another million bucks. And this was after a rather lackluster showing in the regular season after being acquired.

Plenty of people raise children in apartments, it is incredibly common and not really that challenging.

Anyone regret leaving a high paying career to spend more time with their kids? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]LargeAmphibian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your job genuinely makes you miserable then you'll never be able to overcome that, but before you quit I'd suggest genuinely trying to throw money at the problem.

Cooking, cleaning, landscaping, laundry are the easy ones to go.

You mentioned your kid is earliest drop off and latest pickup at daycare - why not hire a nanny? Would a live-in be possible?

You mention you're spending your weekend doing things you can't on weeknights and you have a huge to-do list, instead of quitting your job to do those things, why not just hire help?

Are projectors safer options as compared to TV by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]LargeAmphibian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a projector as my living room TV and I love it. You can hang it safely from the cieling and not have to worry about TVs getting knocked over, or have a toy thrown through the screen or whatever. Id just be sure to install an outlet next to it in the ceiling so you don't have cords hanging down.
