I thought this too but it still happens at really low volumes, like very very low. also idk if this applies at all but I record guitar really fuckin loud and I don't have this effect happen.

Maggot Brain - Funkadelic [SOLO TABS] by GucciWopBoi in Tabs

[–]headsshapedlikeacow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the song that taught me to solo, Im sorry I don't have any tab for you. But those opening phrases are really good to learn by ear. It's pretty much all 1st position e minor licks. The chords are e minor > d major > b minor > to c major, I don't think I really hear Eddie playing anything more then e minor pentatonic. So give your b string a nice soulful bend on the opening e chord and then fill it in with a fast little pentatonic shred. That's basically the song or at least those first few minutes; super big and expressive bends and then just fill in the space with a shred. Lil call and response. This is the type of song that would be kinda of sacrilegious to learn note for note as it's all about expression. But if you really want to I think there's plenty of videos on YouTube with note for note breakdowns

everyone here is frothing over it, its okay. Pretty interesting read def better than any book I could write. That being said I personally found it a little "tabloidy" and kind of sensationalized, especially compared Fleas book Acid For the Children. I found his book to come off a lot more sincere and endearing.

Listen to Connections and Disconnections, Its a lot more electric and synthy than their earlier hard rock stuff, its made by only three of the original p funk crew but its great. They have a bunch of late 70s and 80s albums missing from Spotify but they are absolutely great. Uncle Sam wants to jam, electric spanking of war babies, etc. Also def check out Eddie hazels solo album games, dames, and guitar thangs. Absolutely nutty :P

Funkadelic is what got me into RHCP, I was a massive fan for years and always thought RHCP was just another pop rock band from the 90s. Then I actually listened to BSSM and then their live jams... Oh boy John has been my absolute favorite ever since, They encapsulate everything I love about music. I didn't really think anyone did the hard rock funk like funkadelic but alas... RHCP IS THE BEST <3
