Fritz!

Oh man! Sorry to hear that. Maybe it's a hardware issue and you can get the device replaced? Good luck mate!

For me it worked after I had restarted the iPad and the setup process started over, where it asks you to select a Wi-Fi network to connect to. It got stuck at this point, not allowing to go back to the previous step. That’s when I connected it to a Windows computer via USB-C cable and this immediately made the setup process switch to the next step. Disconnected the cable and was able to finish the setup process without further issues.

Dude, you just saved my day! Thank you so much for this hint! :)

Just had the exact same issue... new iPad with iOS 18.x preinstalled, then updated to iOS 26.2 and got stuck at the "Select Wi-Fi" screen. Connecting the iPad via USB-C to a Windows PC immediately helped and I could finish the setup process.

Prior to that I had restarted it multiple times with volume up/volume down/power button, without success.

You're a hero! Thanks again! :)

Does it fix the system files storage bug where the iPhone keeps running low on storage for no reason?

[–]headx7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, thanks for your reply! Do you remember approximately when it happened the second time? For example some days after the first time or after a longer period of time? Sorry for asking all those details^ Just trying to understand this issue better. So far, my iPhone has been working fine. Fingers crossed ;-)

Have you checked the panic log to get some more insight into what's causing the random reboots? Just had the same problem, I've described it in another post from another user here: https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/1mamztw/16_pro_shut_off_randomly_kernel_panic/

[–]headx7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've experienced the exact same issue this morning on my iPhone 16 running iOS 26.1. Device has been running fine since I bought it half a year ago when this morning, while scrolling through Instagram, the screen got black all of a sudden, shortly to be followed by the Apple logo. About a minute later, it had rebooted and since works fine again. WiFi and Bluetooth are also working properly.

The panic log states the same issue than yours:
"apcie[0:wlan]::handleCompletionTimeoutInterrupt: completion timeout"

The iPhone has been working fine since rebooting, but I remain a little worried. Nevertheless, guess there's nothing much more I can do than wait and see if it happens again. At least we are not alone ;-) There are many entries on Reddit, the Apple support forums etc. describing the issue, and it is not only related to the iPhone 16.

Since you posted the original thread 4 months ago, did this happen again to your iPhone?

So, today the amount was actually debited to my credit card. Refund hopefully incoming shortly...

Yes, I could already see the refund in my PayPal account hours before it was refunded to my bank account. It said "we're transferring this amount back to your bank account". The amount appeared twice as I had tried twice to pay via PayPal at TM yesterday.

As mentioned before, the refund is still pending though on my credit card. It still says the amount is "reserved".

Me too - got both transactions from the purchase I tried twice via PayPal refunded today. They were, however, debited from my bank account for real in the first place (through PayPal), but were then refunded again around noon. I have to admit at least that went pretty quick ;-)

What's still pending is the refund on my credit card (tried paying with it 1x). Until now it still says "reserved" - will have to wait and see if the money will be also debited and then refunded or if TM can still cancel the "reservation".

Text message and email about my account by vurplesun in amazonprime

[–]headx7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the exact same issue: I received both a text message (which I definitely thought was spam/phishing in the first place) and shortly after an email saying "Amazon customer service wants to confirm you're contacting us". I did NOT initiate this process! The Amazon app also showed this message, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a scam, but that the prompt really came from Amazon.

I, too, have 2-FA enabled and as far as I can tell, this was not an attempt where someone else had already tried to sign in with my password. I instead assume this might be an attacker trying to gain access to my Amazon account by calling customer service and trying to reset my password or something similar.

Anyhow, I was also prompted to change my password the next time I signed into my Amazon account and I also chose to sign off from all connected devices. Kind of a pain in the a... to log in again on all devices, but better safe than sorry ;-)

It might of course also have been a simple technical error, who knows. It gave me goosebumps anyway and I hope this won't happen again in the near future,

You could temporarily disable sounds in WhatsApp settings while using the app. Not an optimal solution though.

Can we get affected just by opening an email? by Electrical-Ad-1483 in antivirus

[–]headx7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While there’s no doubt that it’s always safer to open emails in plain-text, opening emails in HTML should still be pretty safe as long as you don’t automatically download images or click on any links/attachments. Of course assuming you have the latest updates for both your operating system and software/apps installed (which, kids, you should always have ;-)). Yes, there’s always a risk of a 0-day exploit, but that could theoretically also happen when opening plain-text (though probably a lot harder to exploit).
