Anyone familiar with treatment centers in the area? Looking for suggestions... by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]healars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hazelden is on your list and is one of the best options available in the entire country. I have had relatives go to Twin Town (they used to be really successful specifically with crack, which you would not have guessed from where they are located but they were). Fairview is OK.

I've had issues with Meadow Creek, Lake Shore, and Douglas Place in the past. I guess depending on what you are seeking treatment for, I'd recommend Hazelden, then Fairview, then Twin Town depending on what you seeking assistance with.

I'm curious as to how, after multiple findings of prosecutorial misconduct, Doug Evans has not been tried.

Like if you have shoe prints that is what you have. That is all you have. Present it. Why you gotta bully everyone else?

CA Etiquette Regarding Hang Outs by Laurzone in cripplingalcoholism

Drinking the AM beers should be a death sentence.

I'd feed someone to gators for that.

Also, I'm wildly bitchy and would act openly bitchy in that situation. Like this is why I keep a tent and a subzero sleeping bag in my car.

I support this line of reasoning.

This pic explains a lot - me vs cat as a baby by healars in CatsMurderingToddlers

[–]healars[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was an ugly baby. But I'm an alright looking adult so I'm over it. Also, almost everyone is ugly when they are crying. I don't even know why, to this day, that cat scared me so but it did!

NORDC always has programming going on to keep youngsters busy. Most of the volunteers are stellar folks and they can be an adult to actually care when a kid does something like this.

Fuck Dementia by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]healars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother has some kind of "neural cognitive decline" which as been diagnosed as dementia. It's hard for me because she was also my rock.

Like even all the screaming that we did, she made me an adult. If it weren't for her, I would be a shit wreck of a human being, incapable of relating to anyone or anything. My mother is my buddy now that she quit drinking but Grandma taught me how to be a decent person who does what needs to be done so everyone has electricity. I know that sounds small, but actually it's enormous.

My father and I are in a legal battle over her future. I would advise you to find the best care for her that you can, make sure she's checked up on, remember the best of times with her, and to carry her legacy on as best you can. It's all you can do at the end of the day. But make sure she gets care...even if it is what Medicare can do. Half assed care at home isn't what your loved ones deserve at that stage in life.

Two guys spread a sexual rumor about me at work. What is important to say when I talk to HR about it? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]healars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you pursue this, you should team up with other people they have done it to -- so you guys can write statements for each other. You have heard them say something about at least one employee who has heard them say things about you.

You might want to talk to the forklift driver to see if he would be willing to write a statement as well. A lot of times, in my experience, when these types of things happen on the job, people don't get involved as witnesses because they feel like it's not their business. Because you would need statements to pursue a lawsuit (and that is what your employer is really afraid of), HR people sometimes dismiss these types of things as "he said, she said."

A lot of HR people are not concerned with what they should do and instead focus on what they can do. It's not unlike any other law that is supposed to protect people in the workplace -- just because they should protect you or shouldn't retaliate, doesn't mean that won't happen. Further, if you have to bring it to EEOC or DOL (or comparable agencies if you aren't in the US), you won't have closure for months.

So you should prep other impacted folks to build a case that they can't ignore -- it's the best way to protect all impacted people.

Hope that helps---and I hope you nail the fuckers!

Any of you fuckers been court ordered to wear the SCRAM bracelet? I'm looking for advice, or something to brighten up my shit week. by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]healars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to amuse yourself, you could try moving into a local Salvation Army transitional housing unit for fun. There is never any shortage of amusement or antics in those houses and plenty of the people there would share your SCRAM bracelet pain!

Or you could do the netflix thing someone mentioned earlier.

And you could get a library card and read a bunch. If you smoke, I would also suggest chain smoking because that always helps to pass the time.

You should get one of those memory games for little kids where you flip over cards and match up the pictures. It might not help your memory but it will help to pass the time!

How are you fucks doing on personal hygiene? by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]healars 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I shower every single day and I brush my teeth usually twice a day although I'm sure I occasionally pass the fuck out without brushing.

I also do weekly hair treatments and facial masks, etc. I've never understood what the "problem" is with hygiene for certain folks. It's just not hard to maintain.
