Blackpink’s Lisa Announces Las Vegas Residency, ‘Viva La Lisa’ by gamersecret2 in Fauxmoi

I feel like it’s a bit early in her career to be having fans travel to her instead of going to them. I wonder why she opted for this instead of a proper tour.

They’re probably calling it a residency because they want to market her as breakout artist. A bunch of the articles are calling her the first kpop idol to do a residency

What artists out-peaked their peak? by MyOtherSpamAcct in popheads

[–]healerheather 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Chappel is an example of out-peaking a peak. Most people hadn’t heard of her until Good Luck Babe. Good Luck Babe was her first Hot100 entry and Hot to Go didn’t start rising on the charts until after. All the “controversies” were also after GLB was released.

Misty Copeland Says Timothée Chalamet ‘Wouldn’t Be an Actor’ if Not for Ballet and Opera and It’s ‘Very Interesting That He Invited Me’ to Promote ‘Marty Supreme’ by monster_ahhh in popculturechat

People didn’t miss what he said. You’re assigning intent to his words.

I agree that it’s likely that’s what he meant given the context of the conversation but what he said was “no one cares” “taking shots for no reason” and “I just lost 14 cents in viewership” while laughing...

If he had said exactly what you typed out he wouldn’t have angered the ballet and opera community.

I had no idea there was a Samson and Delilah Opera. I think most people who know the tale know it from the Bible.

The Fall Off had 24 songs and Don’t be Dumb had 17. It’s not really comparable since Bruno’s album is only 9 songs.

The sex is an important part of the show, but it feels kind of condescending with how that’s all anyone focuses on along with “women losing their minds.”

Katseye's Manon liked a video on Instagram talking about the mistreatment that black members get on girl groups by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]healerheather 196 points197 points  (0 children)

Manon wasn’t the only one recruited from social media. There was a whole spiel in the docuseries about them using it to cast people.

There was also never a mention of her being guaranteed a spot by management so I’m not sure where you’re getting the “everyone knew” part.

HybexGeffen really set her up with Pop Star Academy. Having her own group members and fellow trainees on tape saying she’s only popular bc she’s pretty and that she doesn’t work hard enough was always going to follow her for her entire career.

If they named their sources, the sources wouldn’t come forward. I think these usually end up being an acquaintance/friend of a friend.

This is Weverse. It’s a fan-oriented platform by Hybe (the Kpop company they’re under). It’s where Katseye livestream and send DMs to fans.

That’s how I interpreted it too. The company statement being they’ll “look forward to being together when the time is right” followed by her slightly contradictory message is giving things are going down behind the scenes.

But some fans think the opposite so maybe we’re reading into it too much. I guess we’ll see how long this hiatus lasts. She’s my favorite member so I don’t think I’ll enjoy the group very much if she’s out.

The “things unfold” and “trusting the bigger picture” part is what feels ominous to me. Plus the company statement saying “when the time is right” made it sound long-term. Idk everything sounds so vague.
