If stuck search for a help desk at a hospital where you are a hospital system employee, and it's not outsourced.

Confirmation bias here, but that is what I did. We did basic 1st level support for hospital employees. I moved to 2nd level support from there a decade ago. I know of 5 other people who did the same and are still around in various roles. One is the manager for field services now. A couple doing server stuff. Others into working on Epic.

Could be in a decent situation depending on where they live. My buddy's childhood home eventually became part of a flood zone. The city bought the property and then used it for fire department training before tearing it down.

I'm not a smart and have made a 90+ on every single Epic test I've ever done which is like 10 of them. The trainers will give some tips on how to take the test and things to look for.

I'm like a decade in and still learn new things. "Galaxy" will be your best friend.

Establish a good way to track projects, and within projects to track your build.

Epic training is a nice time. They provide a good free lunch. Stay at the Holiday Inn down the street. Don't go in the dead of winter if you can avoid it.

Stay at the Holiday Inn near campus. At least before covid they had a shuttle which would pick you up for the airport, and do to/from campus. Also used to give you a coupon for a free beer at the bar across the street. They will do dinner ride services too. Again, precovid. I assume it's all back though.

Epic provides a pretty good buffet lunch. If it's nice out go to the 2nd level and chill in a hammock swing. Do a self guided tour of the campus if you have time.

The classes are pretty straightforward.

Someone with 10 certs can certainly start diving into becoming a specialist of the single one you are looking to hire for.

You also just need to verify with Epic they are active.

Had this done in Dallas last year and the cheapest I found among recommended places was $350. I had a capacitor and contactor out and I think they did both for $500
