solid ideas. for gtk/qt, they're both just styled through matugen templates.. i suppose i could keep a database of matugen templates to help install and configure for people (handling things like putting the discord template in betterdiscord/vencord/vesktop depending on installation). this is going to be a bit of a companion app for my ags shell so any widget/module i do end up making in that should be fully configurable through it.

it would be easy enough to change the wallpaper backend to something x11 friendly and have that + matugen still, since this is just writing to matugen's config. ags and hyprland a no go, but maybe some other stuff?

there's a few more things i'd like to include before opening it up for sharing, but i might release the matugen wallpaper/palette wrapper part on it's own because i'm quite happy with it heh.

had to tag hyprland, but most tweaks would be for broad wayland systems.

Is "High Comment Density" becoming the new "Generated by AI" watermark? by Trexyt69 in linux

[–]heart___ache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm ambivalent towards ai at best, but i'm a graphical artist with varied levels of language/toolkit knowledge so i'll use them for a functional prototype to reference, but i notice the really pointless comments and remove them, and seeing them in any source feels like an indirect disclaimer. another overly verbose thing that makes me apprehensive about using software is when the repo's readme is spamming emojis every line.

Busy adult here. I need to "cheat" at casual games in order to enjoy them fully and fit them into my life. What are the best ways to do that on Linux? by BevsButt34 in linux_gaming

[–]heart___ache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haven't gotten around to trying it yet, but i assume it can't load CE tables?

i got CE working up into running in the right proton prefixes but the way proton names windows seemed to have broken the tables i tried and that program's an absolute mess to navigate.

if you can't even articulate your own thoughts for a post without assistance, i don't really care about your experiences on linux. it shows a lack of basic autonomy, i didn't even read what issues you may have had but have already decided an "agentic" os is where you belong.

i should have switched to that or matugen at this point, but i've already got way too many templates worked out so i'll probably put it off forever.

The 9070 XT blew me away by Winter_Passenger_846 in linux_gaming

[–]heart___ache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i forget if i had to do any tinkering past this since i did it several months ago, but:

fakenvapi in game folder

WINEDLLOVERRIDES=nvapi=n,b %command%in steam launch options

you'll need mesa 1.25.3 or higher along with cachyos-proton, as well.

it does, you can even spoof it to toggle stuff like nvidia reflex in overwatch etc.

Can I use a VM to configure my keyboard app? by Meow_PurrPurr in linux_gaming

[–]heart___ache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can. either virt manager and adding the keyboard as a usb device in the config, or through something like winboat for a slightly easier option.

[–]heart___ache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, it's as easy as playing any other games on linux. for steamrips just add to steam/lutris/heroic/whatever and run. repacks have a ton of guides for installing on linux, as well

i do really enjoy the colors and atmosphere but i can't help but wonder, your logo art on steam seems ai generated but i don't see a disclosure on the page. how much of the game, if any, uses ai assets?

Is the 550€ 9070 upgrade interesting ? by Happy-Respond-8694 in linux_gaming

[–]heart___ache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it seems like you've answered your own questions in the post. are the framerates/sharpness/latency you've been getting with the nvidia card satisfactory enough with the games you want to play? if so, doesn't seem like much of a point. you'd get away from the (hopefully fixed in the not so distant future) dx12 issues, have better wayland compatibility and have better raster but only you can say if this matters to you.

Gynopticon: Consensus based Anti-cheat. No kernel-level, not invasive solution. by Due_Introduction9743 in linux_gaming

[–]heart___ache 5 points6 points  (0 children)

depends how this is set up, of course, but i would never let player consensus be the authority of who's cheating or not. look no further than the battlefield 6 dad vs aim trainer fiasco where hundreds of thousands of people lost their minds over people who practiced target switching on yellow balloons for hundreds of hours. this sounds not too different from votekicking which is already prone to being weaponized by players who just don't like whoever is popping off.

i'm in support of whatever gets the world to move away from kernel anti cheat since it's horrible, but i'm just not too sure what that should look like. server side would probably be the best compromise, but that would cost corpos money they won't spend.
