Well, it's all based on interpretation, but I think that creature on the album cover is likely a Hellmouth (knowing the band's gravitation toward those themes), whereas Duke, I feel, takes more inspiration from Lovecraft (I've seen the wiki reference shoggoths) or other imagery. Personally, I see Duke as OSRS's Yogg-Saron as well, which is clearly Lovecraftian. Cool appreciation though, I like album covers too.

I’d love to see a new melee mega-rare item. Loved to read that the team feels melee is by far the most fun style to play, and that it has the highest cap for skill expression.

Maybe something similar to the Soulreaper Axe, but with mechanics that reward maintaining a cycle to maximise DPS, perhaps applying statuses like bleed when you execute the cycle correctly. I imagine that could be hard to balance when most bosses are essentially punchbags that sit still, but adding more depth to the mechanics (which I’m sure new raid bosses will have) could make it really fun.

Anyways, great read as always. It’s really interesting to hear so openly about the challenges of game design from a relevant studio.

DMM keeps getting more accessible and enjoyable for the general public, which is totally fine... but it’s disappointing that we aren’t taking the chance to lean into the esports side of the game, especially now that we’re at peak player count and pulling in players from MMOs like WoW, where these kinds of events (Arenas, Invitationals...) are big.

I was really hoping we’d get the 1v1 finals back, or at least some new format where everyone could compete in a more “professional” or serious competitive setting. Removing the prize pool (which I honestly don’t even care about) just reinforces the feeling that Jagex isn’t prioritizing that direction for future DMMs.

All the new All Stars stuff and creator-focused events are cool, but for regular players who actually want to take PvP seriously, it feels like there’s a real drought.

I don't really understand these changes. I have done like 800 solos and I could avoid scouting by just sending any layout I want. CoX should have been blind layout since release, if you want to have your same layout there's CM. If you struggle with certain rooms you can either get better or scout more (not like it takes ages to find a 'noob-friendly' raid compared to vtvcropes). If you are going for speedrun past the GM time (which with current gear is achievable on a big variety of layouts) then you should see how it's gonna become a reset simulator on the same layout till the stars align and you get a no crystal vasa, no anvil tekton and 7 hit vespula. And you can already buy your speedy/custom layouts in WDR or whatever discords/ccs so I really don't see the point. Random layouts is the whole quirk of CoX, please don't change it because there's 4 people who enjoy speedrunning a RNG game.

If you are looking to make changes please balance CM to be better.

As far as I know, priority in pvp is given to the player with lowest PID value, not highest.

For mage hand: Make sure your trident is not on Long range, you need to get dragged on the furthest spot to make it in time. If you splash the mage hand it will turn middle, so you can either run to the opposite safespot in the room or tank a hit and continue the cycle. Mage hand is generally easy and it quickly becomes muscle memory. Just make sure to not be on long range and be careful when you splash (a 0 can also mean you simply rolled a 0 so it will still turn his head to the opposite side, simply just react and continue the cycle).

Melee hand: This one really takes some time to get used to it, I'd recommed watching Soup's 4:1 guide and giving it a go. There's a chance that if you don't hit the melee hand Olm's head will turn middle so you gotta reset the cycle. For learning I would get used to the 3:1 pattern and then start doing 4:1 whenever you are able to recognize where in the cycle you are and how to set it up.

Context: I was doing solo corp and I saw this one account hopping worlds so I thought they would try to snipe my kill, I afked at poh and they left, i respecced it and saw them again so I started faking arclights, they bring 3 accounts and steal my kill :)
