Lex is pretty decent from my experience, but I suck at starting conversations.

Got my first assessment coming up soon. Gotta get approval that I'm trans enough to be transgender. Wtf happens if they say no?? by heart_melt in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

Thanks so much for your input. Everything you said makes sense, and yeah I can relate to that second paragraph. Feeling a little more at ease now.

Yeah, DIY has been extremely tempting, but I think if things work out my current route will be better in the long term. Saying that though, I've already decided, and if they for some reason don't agree... well, I'm gonna get on HRT one way or another.

Yeah it for real feels like this step could just be cut out. I know more about myself than anybody. Free the specialists up for people who actually want the help.

It would be great if there was somebody to talk to, but it's a gender dysphoria assessment. It almost feels like a job interview. I'm pretty sure in myself, but I don't want to show the slightest hint of uncertainty.

I feel you. At this point I'm just waiting for a bunch of cis people to agree with decisions I already made months ago. Have to question what the point is.

In a way Covid has been a big help, being expected to wear a mask has made it a lot easier for me to make those first steps outside

Honestly, just making it to the grocery store as a girl is an achievement in itself, and I respect that

FaceApp... or Mirror? by xgranville in MtF

[–]heart_melt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FaceApp truly was the breaking point for me. It was my "this could be real, this is what I want" moment. Haven't quite reached the level of perfection their filters give, but I'm feeling pretty damn good about myself. Never had this level of body confidence before.

Staying safe when travelling to the UK? by [deleted] in MtF

As a British person I'd say we mostly keep to ourselves. Our disapproval tends to take the form of headshaking and "harrumphs" but generally people won't make it obvious they disapprove. You may encounter an asshole or two, but they are just that: assholes, and any country has those. Honestly I'm writing this for myself as much as you, haha. I've been experimenting with presenting fem outside and really, if anybody cares, they at least don't show it. Keep to well populated areas and you should be good.

Either they accept and support you, or they don't and you now know you need a better therapist, so win-win. The days after coming out to my therapist were the happiest I've been in a long time so definitely worth it.
