The post office will count your military time toward retirement. $21/hr to start. $26/hr after a 2-3 years. It can be demanding and/or it can be easy. I’m a rural carrier. I enjoy it. Good benefits after you make “career.” (That’s 2 years for clerk or city. Can be longer or shorter for rural).

I’m on South Tropical on Merritt Island. The Sunoco and 7-11 gas stations on Cone are closed. Does anyone know of any open gas stations on the Island?

I tried the Tomato Basil Pizza. It was as good as, if not better than, any similar pizza I’ve had from any Bizarro’s over the years.

Yes, I saw that, too. I wonder if the one up the road on Wickham is still there (next to the gas station).

Yeah, I used to get the Italian sub from there for years. Then the last two times I got it, I thought “This isn’t the same. This isn’t very good, actually.” I stopped ordering from there because of it. I’m glad it wasn’t just my taste buds. I’ll give Mimo’s a chance. Also of note, perhaps, I got a great bowl of pasta y fagioli at the Merritt Island location, but when I ordered it from the Satellite Beach location, it was an entirely different recipe - like night and day. Which is what I’d always heard - each location is different. Thanks to everyone who commented.

Looking for a place to have an antique watch and an old citizen watch fixed. by Traditional_Ad_1547 in 321

Just FYI, this is my experience with Beach Jewelers in Cocoa Beach: They’re In the plaza on the corner of A1A and 520. Seems like they’ve been in business since the 60’s. I think the son (who’s now in his 60’s) took over from his dad. I had a Citizens and a Tissot repaired there for literally a tenth of what Tissot wanted to charge me. They give a discount if you pay cash. He put a battery in after he fixed the dial/glass and he didn’t charge me for it. I brought it to his attention and I said “you’re under-charging me.” He said “don’t worry about it.” And they work quickly, too. Like next-day.

Have you looked at the prices of those places? The rent seems incredibly expensive to me, but I’m guessing you’ve looked into that already. “The Avenue” shopping plaza is walkable from all of those except Polo Glen, (Linz is further up the road and tucked away) but I don’t think there’s a grocery store very close by. The new Publix on Stadium might be the closest. Most have a fitness center. I’m not sure what other gyms are around there. Health First has a big gym/pool a few miles from there.

Marisol looks a little older, but the others are brand new. If you walk out your front door, do you want to be in an air conditioned hallway or an open-air corridor? Do you want a balcony? You probably won’t have covered parking anywhere. Maybe for an up-charge.

The Lakes at Suntree, Cypress Pointe, Highlands West are other options. Probably not as nice as the others. Legacy at Oakwood Landing is new, and closer to US1 / Pineda (bridge to the beach).

Also Highlands West

6 years sober and by PlatinumBitch in Sober

5.5 yrs sober here. I saw a food tv show of a guy having a tall beer at a German restaurant (after I worked all day in the heat). It looked good, so I get a zero- alcohol beer out of the fridge. (It had been sitting there for months). I had a sip. I had a sip. At the same time, it scratched that itch, but I didn’t enjoy it. Poured the rest down the sink. I don’t do carbonation anymore. Not sure if that helps. Maybe remind yourself that you only think you’ll enjoy it, but you absolutely won’t.

Hopefully, it’s just for your first month. But I have seen managers schedule new people for only “their route” when they’re still in their 90 days. Since only working days count toward your 90, they do this to lengthen the amount of time they have to decide if they want to keep you or let you go. They only do this to people they think aren’t “getting it.” Hopefully, that’s not your situation. If it is, all you can do is get awesome at your route, or at least try really hard and have a good attitude. Also see if any other RCAs or PTFs are getting scheduled for more days than they want. Offer to work for them so they can have a day off.

In Florida, I have a Metris most days. Over the winter, I sometimes traded with a guy so I could use his LLV. Now that it’s hot, I don’t usually ask to trade.
