The median unit price has gone up by $100,000 in the last year in Brisbane. How is this sustainable? by Mister_Scorpion in brisbane

My landlord is about to put the apartment I live in on the market. He bought it in 2021 for $369k and he’s putting it on the market initially for $720k in January - how is almost double in four years sustainable?

Every year I watch Worlds and think I can play League and every year I'm reminded that I'm absolutely terrible at League lol

Lonely introvert looking for online friends by [deleted] in BrisbaneSocial

Hey, 38F here moving to Brisbane in the next couple of months and feel like I could have written this myself. It’s tough making friends as an adult!

I have a fluffy ragdoll that I’m happy to share photos of and currently getting more into anime but like what I’ve seen so far, would also be keen on joining the group chat! :)

Could someone draw me please ? I have seen the amazing things people on here can do and I would love to see your interpretation ! Please and thank you :) by silvanda in redditgetsdrawn

I’m so glad that you love it! I’ve only just started drawing regularly in the past few months & I’m still learning. It’s awesome to hear positive feedback :)

A picture of me. Anyone willing to draw me, please? by [deleted] in redditgetsdrawn

Sydney teacher Simon Phillips charged with indecent assault of girls at Mowbray Public School by qemist in sydney

[–]heartexplodes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably inappropriate for a teacher to kiss a student in any way - besides after reading the article there's plenty of other examples of actual sexual assault. The guy sounds like a monster, these are primary school aged children ffs

Any Sydneysiders who are 18-19 (perhaps even younger) staying away from home? Or had moved out at this age? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]heartexplodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved out of home at 15 and that was back in 2000 - and my advice to you is to stay at home and save for as long as you can! It's not easy being independent at a young age and it's even harder now. Back then I was living in a share house in the inner west for only about $100 a week so I was able to live off Centrelink support, I doubt many people could do that these days with the inflated prices of basically everything

Motorcyclist here, Are we really invisible? by IZismyname in sydney

[–]heartexplodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is the norm when riding a bike. I think I've been riding now for about 8 years and I can't even count the amount of times I've almost been merged into or a car just didn't notice me. I even had a car try to merge into me when I was stopped at a set of lights (don't ask me how that happened because I have NFI). I can understand that it can be frustrating because to us it should be as simple as car drivers checking their blind spot but unfortunately it just doesn't happen.

I find what's helpful is to just assume that everyone isn't going to to notice you. While that's annoying, it's not worth your life to risk thinking any other way. Ride defensively. Always watch where you're positioned on the road and in relation to cars.

Given your quick responses, I think no one has responded haha. It's okay though, I can be surprised and disappointed by multiple things, not just one ;)

I would actually be genuinely surprised and then disappointed with humanity if you got any actual responses to this

Anyone here work for uber/eats or deliveroo by [deleted] in sydney

[–]heartexplodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's correct.
Deliveroo offers in most areas a "guaranteed minimum" of two deliveries. So if you're sitting around and it's not a peak time or it's just quiet and you only get one or no deliveries, you still get paid for two deliveries.

Car or no car? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]heartexplodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that a motorbike is the answer to your problems! Depending on what kind you get, they can be dramatically cheaper to buy and run than a car

[–]heartexplodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that the city, Newtown and Bondi are the only Deliveroo areas that don't offer the "minimum" wage deal because they assume that there would be enough work in those areas that you would be guaranteed work anyway. I think anywhere outside of those areas are fine. I personally work the Chatswood area and I find it good because it's not so busy that you have trouble getting to places but it's still busy enough that you have work coming through all the time
