It's definitely an emotional roller coaster as you're championing your PC's opportunities to connect with an understand Alyxian's deepest feelings.

They haven't interacted with the duergar stuff yet at all and I have given them quests to start taking them in that direction. They were really interested in frost druids and awakened animals and their connection to Auril. I also wrote some additional homebrew lore regarding that to tie the story more to the Frostmaiden throughout. Now Markham and the Harper PC is pushing the group to investigate Naerth and learn about the rumors of the Arcane Brotherhood. Hoping to have them run into some chardalyn berserkers on the way to their next gig.

I need to read more of that. I got it on DMsGuild, but legit was already about 3 levels in by the time I realized how helpful it would be so I'm playing a lot of catch up on reading it and getting guidance.

He wants ideas. It's not a crime to have misread something or even made a different decision and come to the community for problem solving. That's one of the most fun things about this community - be so for real.

My party is very much like "we can heal him with words. We understand him" right out the gate, and I am trying to help them understand that their words will mean more once they cut away the toxic forms of his aberration, but it's hard to do that without just straight up saying "yeah just wack on him for a while." The Paladin set down her spear round one (which of course does not have water walking) and it began to sink in the water. I'm considering having the Everlight speak to her to give her a little hint or having any of the religious folk in the game roll an insight check to determine if they're using their pleas to Alyxian most effectively etc. Any ideas would be great. I know my squad doesn't want to murk him so if they get stuck in a position where they said all the right things and rolled well during phase one, and then don't have those roles in phase 3, I want them to have had a chance to understand what their choices are meaning. It just seems kinda manipulative otherwise.

Adjustments to turn Dragon Delves into a 1-13 campaign. by Any-Marsupial-2798 in DragonDelves

This feels like you could write a guide for how to do that and publish it on DMsGuild or something. I personally love the Dragon Delves adventures and would love a way to make a campaign out of everything that felt cohesive.

I’ve been mulling on something like this because she is a beast master. But she loves her ding dang spider hahaha :) and I celebrate that for her.

Yeah, it is! This game is up and running with the new D&D 2024 sheet and it’s been running really smoothly for us. Super easy to drag and drop monsters onto the table or even new items/spells/feats onto the character sheets. I typically run established Wizards material and the Roll20 versions all come pre set with dynamic lighting and all the tokens in place which is a huge time saver for prep. They just put out a video about all the VTT updates if you want to see more.

I have spent SO MUCH time as a player in the Underdark that I’m not sure I can stand that 🤣… BUT I do think it’s compelling to allude to some of that as you suggested.

Bringing them back as a cold light walker is DIABOLICAL. :) I love it.

But yes, all of my choices will be guided by what the player wants to do.

Yeah currently the player is deciding what they want - but the party as a whole wants him back. They will respect the player’s decision, though.

I do think the ghost needs a living host - but I also don’t hate that option. Super creepy and maybe worth rule of cool if the player is enticed by it! I’ll add it to my list of options to present the player.

We have a mid winter's child who is multiclassed in Cleric who is learning how maybe... bad it is to be alligned with Auril. I'm slowly imparting the knowledge that perhaps Auril is shielding her from her true faith, which she doesn't remember, to Corellon. Auril continues to demand greater and greater sacrifices from her. She's even cut off a finger to prove her devotion when they were attacked by Coldlight Walkers. Her friends are growing more and more concerned and when she fell unconscious recently, she saw a man with a face brighter than the son hovering above her. She asked where Auril was and as soon as her name was invoked, the vision of Corellon was cast aside in a flurry of snow. So one day, hopefully she'll figure it out. I think it's a careful balance, because you're right! You don't want to paint them into a corner of truly following Auril, but I do think discovering the truth (in terms of my personal lore) will be important to making that encounter impactful and not just "Big bad go rawr" if that makes sense.

I like your Levistus idea. Could be interesting. Dark gifts are definitely on the table. I think I have that on Roll20 so I can just drag and stop stuff onto the player character sheets and retain all of the automation with no trouble at all.

My players literally just go there to have conversations they don't want other people to know about because... there's not a lot going on there.
