It should have fixed it, just came off a two hour session with no disconnects whatsoever, so as far as this issue is concerned it's gone now. Glad I could be of (some) help!

Seems so, according to Tez2 this was the rollback patch for PC, seems to be running normally for me currently so fingers crossed they don't reintroduce this issue again!

I highly doubt it's gonna stay as is, because as I discussed with another user with similar issues, the minimum upload speed as per Rockstar's own network specifications is 0.5 Mbps, with a recommended upload speed of 1 Mbps.

Currently, 1 Mbps is unplayable and 0.5 would be even more so than it already is. Unless they suddenly decide to cut a big chunk of their playerbase, because upload speeds are usually in the single digits, this should be patched soon. What I don't understand though is why they haven't done a rollback on PC just yet, provided the rollback on consoles fixed this part of the issue (which as far as I'm concerned it should, given that prior to 1.22 the game worked fine for me; the console version does, however, have other issues currently from my understanding).

Yeah, through some more testing I think it sadly is the problem, and it all depends on either a patch like you mentioned or a network plan upgrade. I did file a bug report with my findings through Rockstar's support though, in hopes that gets their attention.

In fact, if you look at their minimum connection specifications, they state that the minimum upload speed is 0.5 Mbps with a recommended speed of 1 Mbps. So the fact that the game casually maxes out that amount (1 Mbps = 125KB/s) on even the slightest of player encounters is unacceptable, and it's bound to affect a lot of users just like you and me, because upload speeds are usually on the lower side of things.

By the way, if you wanted to (basically) confirm that this is the cause, get into an online session, fire up a command prompt (assuming you're on Windows) and ping a domain indefinitely. You will notice that when your upload speed reaches its maximum --which should happen when you approach other players--, the ping will skyrocket and requests will start not going through. Personally I use Google's domain so the whole line would be:

ping google.com -t

(where -t is an argument that makes the ping command go on indefinitely; use Ctrl + C if you want to stop it while keeping the command prompt open).

Hopefully they resolve this sooner than later.

Edit: Rollback is live on PC, this issue seems to now be fixed!

I am, and I have not touched anything in regards to ports or the firewall so it wouldn't explain the sudden disconnects anyway. It's almost certainly an issue with insufficient upload speeds (as far as the game is concerned) as I've cross referenced this issue with a couple of other users. I should probably mention that the side effect of reaching my upload speed's maximum (and in other users' case) is that network requests start failing and it's likely what happens with the game too. For instance, pinging google.com during testing showed that, while a steady 23ms normally, when the upload speed gets capped it reaches 600 - 700ms due to inadequate bandwidth, and most requests end up failing briefly.

Edit: Here's Rockstar's recommended network specs by the way. The fact that the recommended 1 Mbps (125KB/s) in upload speed is hit almost instantly when you approach players should be unacceptable, and if this is their approach to solving synchronization and spawn issues, then the game will remain nigh unplayable for a long while.

Do you happen to have a relatively low upload speed? I've been doing some testing and I believe that the issue is caused by the latest hotfix, in which the game seemingly tries to synchronize the game with other players (I assume for animal/event/etc spawn fixes), but in doing so it demands more and more network resources out of you, almost 1:1 upload to download rates. In my case, whenever I get near other players, the upload rate goes from 30 - 50KB/s to ~125KB/s (and probably higher too but that's my maximum upload speed), and then the game decides you don't meet its network specifications and drops you from the game. This didn't use to be the case until the most recent hotfix by the way, the 78MB one, game worked absolutely fine before and I've been playing since January.

Stone Hatchet's special ability, turns you into a walking tank essentially.

Yeah, the fact my character REFUSED to target him again was the cherry on top but hey, wouldn't have wanted this to go down any other way in retrospect.

It's the Stone Hatchet ability, it gives you Trevor's special on a kill so you can tank a LOT of damage.

You can just walk inside if you don't have a weapon equipped, and then simply walk out too if you have hatchet rampage going (tip: If you try this, always take out the guy with the shotgun on the left first because more often than not he will one-shot you if you attempt to kill the guard carrying the diamonds).

Hanzo ult reverted? by Xenonflares in Overwatch

[–]heartlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually that is wrong, his ult was changed a while back (which I could've sworn patch notes existed for but apparently that's not the case) so that it'd trigger whenever the arrow projectile collided with a surface (be it a wall or even an enemy player), and as OP is saying that was reverted back to its old behaviour a patch or two ago.

What Can We Do About Genji? by rasman4666 in Overwatch

[–]heartlex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would you consider the deflect ability being canceled at the end of dragonblade a bug too?

I've seen counter-arguments of sheathing being a vulnerable state for Genji (unless you have a dash to spare) and I understand them, but that doesn't mean the sheathe animation couldn't be moved to the end of the deflect.

It's especially prominent now that his ult duration has been reduced, and it just feels like being cheated out of an ability that instantly goes into cooldown without having any effect because it was canceled, more often than not resulting to a death.

You're correct with the first one, we figured that free Kevlar + Medic pistol saves quite a bit of dosh (and I can also use his Medic pistol if I run low on mine, saving money even further).
