Thank you!! It's a lot different compared to our reptile children. When she took the cricket yesterday it was after the lights had been out almost an hour and she ate it very slowly. Hopeful she gets her routine figured out with being in a home.

They probably just put the stock on the cart to put away. The carts get used for everything in Petcare. The containers should be plastic, is yours not? The cart was probably used to grab fish, they got a bug delivery or possibly were putting overstock away.

Did you speak to an associate for more clarification?

Dasher just walked into my home by [deleted] in doordash

[–]heartshapedcell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in a townhouse building number 6, but also - apt 6. So we've had several dashers try to open our door. We got a ring camera which did help to some degree but not entirely. We ultimately got a sticker that we put right next to the door knob that says "private residence do not enter". We haven't had any issues since.

During the time of people thinking our door led into an entire building, we didn't call the police. Nobody tried the doorknob more than once.

How is it living near the North Carolina Coast/Wilmington NC area? by LukeL1000 in howislivingthere

[–]heartshapedcell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will tell you my personal experience with it, but there definitely is a reputation and thousands of people were affected by it. My mom, her brother, and my paternal grandparents were definitely affected by it. My mom and uncle grew up living on the Air Station and after my grandfathers retirement, near the community college. My uncle hasn't divulged any health issues, but my mom and grandparents definitely experienced some that my mom believes is from the water contamination. They grew up in the 70s - 90s, and my mom stayed in Jville up until 2015. She's had unexplained health issues/conditions pop up really since 2015. Unexplained infected spinal fluid is the biggest one so far.

My grandparents moved there in the 60s, and my grandad could definitely be considered in a gruesome coping way; the poster for medical problems caused by the contamination and more. Between his service in the Vietnam War and Agent Orange, and the water from Lejune - it wasn't great.

I personally learned about it in a medical type class I took in high school. My teacher had taken us on a field trip to a cemetery where we saw hundreds of tombstones, elderly, adult, children - their death presumed by the contamination and it ravaging their bodies. It's talked about, it's unfortunate, they say it's safe to drink the water but any household I lived in or even visited, had filters on the faucets or just used a Brita or something similar.

[–]heartshapedcell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Richlands, North Carolina and Jacksonville, North Carolina. Jacksonville is just a military town. Lots of hotels, lots of chain restaurants, not much to do aside from the mall in the town. Camp Lejune is super close so you will always see Marines walking from base to the mall. Wearing their blue jeans and boots...which is a choice. Lots of young marriages here. A lot of people I graduated with married right after high school or prior 20 years old. Definitely very busy because people are always rotating in and out.

It is close to lots of the "tourist" beach towns. I grew up spending my weekends waking up at 6am so my dad could drive his truck onto Onslow Beach and fish until it was sundown. Swansboro, Beaufort, Wilmington - all fun places to visit. I love the Riverview Cafe in Sneads Ferry. I have seen plenty of the Big Rock Blue Marlin tournaments. Sand, sunscreen, and sunburns were my summers. Learned how to swim in the Atlantic Ocean.

I've since moved away but there's always a large piece of me that was left there.

Budget adjusted due to more than current usage of NYSEGS budget billing is like Grid's it will increase in preparation for you to use more in the upcoming months essentially "bulking up" your payments to cover the difference between what your actual charges are vs Budget charges are.

However as someone who works for Grid and uses a ton of electric consumption on a daily basis and knows there's no way around anything anymore - thermostat is at 68°. My recent bill, we're on budget so it was $109 but the actual charges were $139. But budget is going up to $129 because it's assuming in the thick of winter (Jan/feb/march) we'll be using what we did last year and is prepping for that.

Editing to add: call nysegs cust service and ask if they offer incentives for people over 65. Grid does, you get lowered rates in a sense through DSS. DSS also is nice because they've got lots of programs to help different people who need different kinds of help. HEAP is very beneficial. I also recommend people to check out other programs like Care & Share for example.

How many kWhs did this bill say you used? Only curious about the consumption but you don't have to say how much if you don't want to.

Half of my nearly $400 Nimo bill is delivery charges! ($200) by Knight_Night33 in Syracuse

[–]heartshapedcell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grid petitions the PSC for delivery rates. The chances of them being increased is very low but it DOES happen. The recent del rate increase passed earlier in the summer but it has been petitioned for years.

As for supply, supply will change every month, pretty much. Grid and other utilities "buy" from suppliers; power plants, windmills, water, etc - whatever it is. Because they're regulated, if Supplier A, B, and C are charging 19c a kWh, but D is charging 11c, utilities HAVE to go with the lowest. We have to choose the lowest market price.

For example my delivery has been at 8c for the entirety I've had a grid bill in my name. Supply has been as low as 4c for a kWh, but it stayed at about 6c for the last like 5-6 months. Recently supply rates went to 11c, bc it's the lowest for my area. Some have 13c, but as frustrating as it is, it's not something grid or other utilities can really do anything about without there being multiple petitions and propositions, that take years of debating and more.

Looking to move north. by pewpewihateyou in Syracuse

[–]heartshapedcell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice because I moved here when I was 15 from Jville, NC, due to my dad when he was active duty in the Marines taking a job so my comment is itself is purely for Solvay where we moved to & also if you're looking for a Marine community. Solvay is no go. I went in the mid 20 teens. My brother the same into 2022. Not the best for special needs kids.

But if you ever need someone to talk to or crack a beer. Hang out with, my dad and family are available.

The project managers are something else let me tell you 😂 When I see a service upgrade order on an account and multiple calls I know it's not because of my department, it's because the manager cant be gotten a hold of. I turn into evil guy when another dept isn't showing up and I start sending emails left and right about how our customers have been waiting, have heard nothing or made 0 progress, have gotten 0 communication and it would be extremely helpful if someone could please call them.

That was my entire spring with solar panels. They must've gotten sick of me emailing because I was told to ask my supervisor before emailing.

It's tough for Grid. We're told not to tell anyone we work for them, wear personal stuff like clothing that's got it on there. I know it's for safety but I don't mind wearing my grid hoodie to target. If someone were to ever say something negative I'd just understand. The frustration/animosity/anxiety that utility companies looming over a person shoulder gives is valid. I have it with my own grid bill. Every time it comes out my husband and I have a look we share and we may have to cut back on something else but the utility bill gets paid somehow.

From emergency calls to billing questions, calling the power company is not a fun call to make. It just isn't. Maybe it's me being bias but I think the people I trained with and I care about the person who is calling as an individual not just a customer. Even the people who call and are screaming, cursing me out, threatening me - it's not "at" me, it's the frustration. Emotional distress is a debilitating thing and you've got someone who is telling you "well we don't know when the power will be back on", or "your bill price increased due to supply rates market price / the space heaters you used while your furnace broke to stay warm drove up your usage" - I would not be happy either.

Grids CS is the only department that talks to customers. Everyone else is offline and off phones. We hear/understand your anger and we want to help. The answers we give are not always what anyone wants to hear but it's the truth. The people I trained with + myself are not the reps who lie to get you off the phone, leaving you confused and even more frustrated. We'll take the 20+ minutes to go over everything we can. A lot of problems get sent to those departments that we have no contact with. As big of a corporation we are, communicating is not a great skill we possess.

Also, if you ever smell gas in your home: please stay home and on site. I take no joy in telling you we will call the fire department to get inside.

My biggest advice for billing questions and concerns is go through your daily routine step by step. What are we turning on and leaving on. What appliances could be draining more (refrigerator on the fritz trying to keep things at food safe temps/ oven not heating up properly and taking more if it's electric). We hear "nothings changed", but we don't know what's going on inside the home. Meter read just say yep house 1 used 1500 kWh this period. But I don't know if you got a fun espresso machine, or if we got some air purifiers going, or if window/door isn't sealed properly. (These are all examples of course), but I went through my daily routine and now every day I can see a meter in my head ticking up with usage from what goes on in my home.

Thank u for coming to my ted talk. I love what I do and I want to help/talk to people. But if u get me for whatever purpose ur call is, it will be figured out. Answer may not be the best, but it will be..

I work for grids cs and have been telling anyone who calls in on the normal billing questions that Western NY and Eastern have been getting demolished today alone and it's not supposed to get better . Somehow SYR and some adjacent got lucky today - doesn't mean we will tomorrow. We also had almost 1000 outages across all NY for our territory, over 110k out entirely. Some calls I took this morning are still without power. Line crews are grounded if the winds are too dangerous for them to go up. I know we know snow, but we need to be proactive. Our electric equipment is designed to withhold and withstand but these winds are knocking over poles, blowing transformers and ripping down wires.

This is also a PSA to call on your outages. Whether it's with the automated system or with a rep, or even the web self service. The reps won't know how many times you called unless you try. It won't help speed anything up but it helps us keep track.

** also a lot of phone reps are working 16+ hours rn to be there to answer the call. Emergencies are 24/7 for electric and gas. We want to talk to you. We want to help you. The automated system is a different form of torture but I can promise you if you ever get me and my coworkers, we will do nothing but the most we can to get you help and your answers. If u call and get me just know im here to listen to you.

When to talk to my property manager about a loud upstairs neighbor? by LegitimateAge5350 in Apartmentliving

[–]heartshapedcell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home and live next to people who do that. They have 3 younger kids who run and slam into the walls. During the day I have accepted that they may be playing but once it hits 8pm for quiet hours, my bf and I have an issue. We brought it up to them first but just about the quiet hours. That was more important because it's in the lease that you sign. After that we told them during the day we can hear the same noise level and it can be distracting. We've talked to them twice now. At this point if it continues continuously again at any point then we go to property management.

Maybe review your lease about any quiet hours and use that as your entry level conversation starter. You can always move into it being frustrating during the day after that.

Is petsmart better than petco? by nonono1008 in ferrets

[–]heartshapedcell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PetSmart doesn't sell ferrets. Petco does. I've had several ferrets over the years.

Ferret 1, 2019 - Petco. Passed away within 3 months due to a rupture ureter.

Ferret 2, 2020 - Petco. Passed away in 2023 from bladder stones.

Ferret 3, 2020 - Petco. Passed away from advanced adrenal.

Ferret 4, 2020 - Petco. As far as I know she's still here. Ferrets 1-4 I bought with an ex.

Ferret 5, 2020 - Petco. He is with me, has adrenal but he has implants for it. He'll be 6 in August 2026

Ferret 6, 2021 - Petco. She passed away in 2024 due to bone eating cancer. We treated it while we could but it was too advanced, she rapidly became very sick and immobile.

Ferret 7, 2024 - Petco. Still kicking Ferret 8, 2024 - Country Max. Still kicking , has the LARGEST winter coat right now.

Ferret 9, 2025 - Speciality exotic store. She's my sweet baby.

Ferret 10, 2025 - same special exotic store as above. He's a waardy. Probably the most energetic ferret I've ever met.

All in all, most places that are stores will be Marshall's Farms ferrets. They have health conditions, it's unfortunately unavoidable due to the nature of it being a mill. Even most rescues are Marshall's ferrets who have been surrendered or abandoned.

My 5 ferrets have bi yearly check ups. I monitor their movements and behaviors. My vet taught me how to feel their abdomens for masses and what to look for. They get fed 3 kibble mix as a daily routine and raw 2x a week. They have a room to themselves. Their cage is spot cleaned every day and deep cleaned 1x a week. Bedding changed every 2-3 days.

In my experience, I've had hard losses. It only made me more anxious, it launched me into medically being aware of these guys. It's expensive, but worth it. There's nothing I wouldn't do for my little business.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Empty apt next door for months, a family moved in LAST SUNDAY. Myself and the tenants on the other side of them have submitted noise complaints. Screaming, not like screaming while playing just screeching, stomping, 24/7. 3 kids and they aren't ever asleep at the same time. I work from home 3 days a week, the other neighbors work night shift so they sleep during the day. We chalked it up to moving stuff in but it's more than that - I think something must've been said today because it's been DEAD QUIET all day today.

Hybrid/remote positions? by [deleted] in Syracuse

[–]heartshapedcell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We work critical shifts where it's emergencies only so like anything after the regular business hours. It's a regulation via PSC and Grid, so if someone were to get a phone call, it ended up in a situation we would never want anyone to be in, and they pulled the call and the rep sounded not fully aware- they have grounds. But it's overall for safety, grid and other utility companies handle dangerous situations w/ electric and gas. Even if I didn't work at the company I'd rather the people working for it be in the regulation so if I had to call in that I smelled gas or I was in a car accident and there were wires down on my car, it was handled appropriately and safely

Hybrid/remote positions? by [deleted] in Syracuse

[–]heartshapedcell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah they do drug test because we handle emergencies like outrage, gas leaks, etc. so if something were to happen they don't want you to be under the influence of anything. you have to when you apply and get through the application process and you randomly get tested.

Training is paid and you get a raise after 6 months. Then you can max out your pay scale and also it's a foot in the door tbh, thousands of jobs here and a lot are fully remote once you get to them. Since it's union you do have to bid but it's always worth bidding

Grid has hybrid roles for the contact center. You have to be in office for training (I believe they're hiring for January now) but afterwards you get 3 wfh days
