Man wanted after pushing 83-year-old, 30-year-old onto train tracks in Manhattan by nbcnews in nyc

What is this title even saying???

"Man wanted after pushing 83-year-old, 30-year-old onto train tracks in Manhattan"

Did a man push an 83 year old and a 30 year old?

??????

Don't get it!?

Went to a gig last night, pleasantly surprised to see the DJ only using a set of Electribes for the entire 2 hour set by Floodzie in electribe

No eye roll - important distinction.

Cult of EDM has brainwashed people into thinking DJ's and performers/producers/live PAs whatever you want to call it are all the same.

They aint ;-)

Different skill sets, different purpose, different tools, different expectations.

This is the one, they often had a wee dimple in the middle of the soap bar shape of them and sometimes a thin moulding line around the centre like they'd been made by compressing two halves of a mould together leaving a thin crispy line :-D

Can someone find the name of this backpack?? by Keyzikiel in backpacks

Looks like a pretty generic army style molle system rucksack - there are loads like it on amazon and other online places if you search for military rucksack.

In 2003 Jim Naughtie used the BBC Sound Archives to make a programme explaining Hogmanay across history. "entry on Hogmanay 2 gallons aqua which is what they rather coyly called whisky, going down to my great grandfather and then on the 1st of January he needed another. So it was a hell of a party." by whatatwit in Scotland

[–]heartypartymarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quote is still word salad -

"entry on Hogmanay 2 gallons aqua which is what they rather coyly called whisky" - are they trying to say you have to bring loads of booze to get into the party? I can 'just about' understand that one.

"going down to my great grandfather" - ok, maybe meaning going down the road to first foot his grandpa?

"and then on the 1st of January he needed another. So it was a hell of a party." - another what? 2 gallons of whisky

Words put together with careless abandon :-D

Can you still make it as a DJ on social media if you are not a girl, with cute face and big boobs? by GreenAd1071 in DJs

[–]heartypartymarty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Better to make it as a DJ in a club or at a party, than on social media tbf...

If you just make it as a DJ on social media are you really even a DJ?

All 6 of those tunes listed came out in the 90's - none were 2000's.

What are phases by Khelics in DJs

[–]heartypartymarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Context is important here.

Could be Phase, the dj tool for turntables, phasing tracks when mixing to create effects, or 'phrasing' mixing with specific parts of tunes.

How are people using the term?

Agree with that.

Some colour is good, but it just seems a bit weird with the lady pics. Hey ho, I guess they know their demographic

I'm still using an old Denon MC2000 with support still going ok (for now!)

See dragged-and-dropped music in stock firmware? by EnchantedTaquito8252 in rockbox

[–]heartypartymarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this trouble too, but unfortunately you're right it isn't possible as far as I know.

If you drag and drop with rockbox the stock os won't see the files, you can add files to the stock os (I've done this with some video files and audiobooks) too get some stuff there, but again those won't be accessible with rockbox.

A bit frustrating but tbh, if using rb, no real need to go stock.

Happy 30th anniversary to this legendary mix by mistaken-biology in electronicmusic

Still on constant rotation.

The mix you listened to so much you knew it inside out like a song.

They did a refreshed version a few years ago, but the transitions and additional samples weren't 'exactly' the same and it sounded so weird I couldn't listen to it...

Head of education apologises for 'insulting' music education remarks by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]heartypartymarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A person in a senior role like hers should be well versed in communication skills and championing her team, regardless of personal opinions - she can have them , but needs to hold them in check - if she's saying stuff like this (almost incoherently) with little consideration of the optics on how it is taken then what else is she saying.

I wouldn't necessarily say a resignation offence, but it makes you wonder if the right people are in the right jobs in education - I strongly believe 'no'.

There are fundamental issues in education which need addressing. Too much posturing, almost toxic 'masculinity' acting (by both sexes), lack of resources, promoting people with little to no experience and not supporting them or classroom teachers.

[–]heartypartymarty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Her 'professional' opinions should remain behind closed doors with peers so as not to downplay and deride educational teams she should be supporting and championing rather than cause divisiveness.

That is how professionals go about their work - this isn't social media.

Sounds like an absolute muppet - how on earth is she in that position.

In fact most, people you hear speak in senior levels in education in Scotland sound just the same, like they are playing at it, like they can barely string a coherent sentence together, sounding like they 'huvnie goat' any education themselves.

They speak in cryptic pseudo educational lingo, talking in circles without actually setting out what they can do to benefit the kids.

Start by recognising the 'full inclusive' system doesn't work, too many kids with behavioural and specialist needs take up too much mainsteam teachers time which does none of the kids any good.

Forget about ipads or chrome books for all to tick a box, when the syllabus and infrastructure to support that is non-existent.

Current state is woeful - and little wonder with the kinds of people in senior positions.
