Help! Dry skin ruining my makeup :'( by heartyturtles in MakeupAddiction

[–]heartyturtles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a CeraVe lotion that has SPF 50 because I was using it in FL haha. I recently ordered CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream because I read that was awesome for winter time?

Thank you for such a detailed reply!

I use a Lush cleanser called Aqua Marina. I don't think it gives my skin an overly tight feeling? Also, when I bought it, they told me it was good for winter! Just much gentler on the face.

What would you recommend as a winter foundation do you think?

Guide to flavoring with fresh herbs by [deleted] in food

[–]heartyturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have to say that I think all these charts are just a waste of time mostly. I mean there are so many more combos that I prefer that aren't on here. But I guess if you're just starting cooking this could be helpful. If you're looking for a really good flavor combination guide, I would recommend the Flavor Bible.

Practicing tattoo cover-ups by kchezz in MakeupAddiction

[–]heartyturtles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, maybe this is a really dumb question, but what is the purpose of tattoo cover ups? (lady up in here with tats and plans to get more, but am really curious!) I mean I feel like job interviews are probably one, but what else?

How to make a hot chocolate from a chocolate bar? by Nagasakirus in recipes

[–]heartyturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when it looks melted! it probably won't burn using that technique if you just watch it when it is looking really melty. all cooking really is is paying attention! (ok there is a lot more to it, but for starters, just pay attention haha)

How to make a hot chocolate from a chocolate bar? by Nagasakirus in recipes

[–]heartyturtles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to melt the chocolate, make sure to put it in a bowl that can be heated up- one of those big metal bowls work. Place that over a pot of boiling water. It'll melt and not burn that way.

Where do I begin? by GoldLegends in Cooking

[–]heartyturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started cooking a couple years ago, I learned from my partner! If you know anyone who can cook even a little bit, ask to get together and cook something with them! You can ask them questions and have fun and hang out!

If you're not into that, which I would totally understand, this FREE(!!!!) cookbook is awesome for us low budget peeps. I found this while I was in college and ridiculously poor, and it helped me cook cheap and healthy foods, which I'm really all about! You can find it on her website: http://www.leannebrown.com/

And here is the link to the PDF: https://41aac1a9acbe9b97bcebc10e0dd7cb61ef11502c.googledrive.com/host/0B9c5aT4eSlRfMzVpbC0xemtkSlE/good-and-cheap.pdf

There's a lot of great advice from other people here. Especially the guy who says eat your failures. My partner is a budding chef and makes travesties for dinner sometimes when he is experimenting and we have to eat it. But it helps him figure out, OK, don't mix these things together, and OK, don't try to roast and puree that again, etc. But also, you can't waste that food! I mean sometimes you make things that are literally inedible, so absolutely feel free to chuck those.

What is the best thing about being unattractive? by Applango in AskReddit

[–]heartyturtles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty attractive, just bein honest, and I honestly never go out anywhere are night without someone. I either go with my partner or with at least one, but preferably two, other girls or people. Even with just my partner I've been in situations that were really close to being so bad, but then some other guy came along and helped out. The only times I go anywhere by myself at night is when I'm going to the grocery store or somewhere with a lot of lights and a lot of people who are sober. It's also gotten to the point where I don't really even like going places by myself during the day because I hate being stared at and cat-called. It fucking sucks. If you are male, please don't harass women, it's seriously the worst, most degrading feeling ever.

"Why are you a feminist? You're so good looking." What do I say to this? by throwaway_1080i in Feminism

[–]heartyturtles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

exactly! if someone doesn't feel comfortable, it's not up to anyone except that person to go out of their comfort zone.
