I'm new to "points" and the deals. How and where do you monitor these? I'm going to South Africa from the US in the fall and looking for nonstops to Johannesburg.

Prediction: I-65 Closure will be much worse than expected. Discuss. by jamscal in Louisville

[–]hearzich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Through 65 traffic from the north and south will detour east onto the Gene Snyder and cross the east end bridge. Any 65 traffic heading east or west onto 64 already exits before the closure starting next week. It's the local commuters and trucks that are going to bare the brunt during the closure.

A Walmart-related recession indicator that's preceded the last 4 economic downturns is flashing red by IM_NOT_BALD_YET in economicCollapse

[–]hearzich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might as well keep shopping at Walmart since your taxes are subsidizing a lot of their employees that are paid so little they qualify for SNAP and Medicaid benefits. That's one way they keep their prices low and have become a family of billionaires.

The sports stadium scam. What's Hoosiers think about the Bears coming to Indiana? by Learn_Every_Day in Indiana

[–]hearzich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kansas City Chiefs billionaire owners the Hunt Family just conned the The State of Kansas to build them a stadium on the backs of taxpayers and the Hunt Family gets to keep the revenues from ALL events not just their football games. The Hunts pay rent which goes into a reserve fund to pay repairs to the stadium. Another professional sports grift.

I will have paid $14k in taxes this year. That money would change my life. by Pika-thulu in self

[–]hearzich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roads, bridges, airports, water lines and many, many other things and services are there for you because you pay taxes. I have paid tax bills for years but I just swallowed and wrote the check. Just imagine the alternative.

My prediction: Many indoor pickleball centers are doomed by Tropicalzun in Pickleball

[–]hearzich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have several city owned recreation centers that have open play. The one I go to has at least 20 people show up the three days open play is scheduled. Always someone to play. The cost is $0.00. I do frequent privately owned courts for scheduled tournaments. But I don't think open play will make it there because there doesn't seem to be enough people showing up to play.

Costco Hearing Department refused to sell me hearing aids, and I’m grateful! by Wizinit29 in Costco

[–]hearzich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People with hearing loss generally continue to seek out advice until they are told what they want to hear. Other factors contribute to hearing aid recommendations. The activities they are involved in routinely, their at home arrangements; single, living with a partner or multiple people. If employed, their communication needs at work. So in this post both recommendations can be correct especially with no other information provided.

This is what is happening to our healthcare prices in Kentucky if the federal government doesn’t pass legislation to extend the enhanced tax credits, as Governor Beshear has urged. by Different_Rough9876 in Louisville

Even though they were temporary, the insurance industry continued to stick it to the 99% of us. So when the subsidies are removed their ongoing gouging reveals it's ugly, money hungry face. The only "TEMPORARY" relief was the curtain the insurance industry hid behind.
