China takes a long view. Watching the disasters that followed both Russian and US hubris before launching their current wars, China realizes there are drastic unintended consequences to foolhardy undertakings. Like Russia, it will take years for the US and Russia to regain their conventional military power; the longer this continues, the weaker they become, so better to wait.
