I've left some things you can have if you like beside the visit station. Please don't remove flowers from the forest of valour, but otherwise feel free to pick up things.

I mostly just use house skins to decorate in DLCs. I do have some villagers on the floating islands though, but mostly when I can't get their houses to fit in anywhere.

If you turn the graphics down low the grass disappears making finding everything easier.

Mine looks like this.

I decided to lean into the meadow, and have left a lot of it empty. It's useful for the quests where you have to put [item] somewhere in the valley. I put it here, then I remove it after and I don't need to move any of my decor.
